Stupid question, but I didn't find a good answer, Driving Without Rear Driveshaft, is this possible?

I'm just trying to find the reason for the strange clunk after transmission shifts from R-D

Changed left/right cv axle
Greased spider bearing, driveshafts
Changed fluid front/rear diff

No luck 😞

You can remove the rear drive shaft and then lock the transfer case. It will steer funny.

Yes you can. @Fisher23 is right, it’ll drive strangely but it will work.

without rear driveshaft, I think this is the source of clunk issue , or normal free play?

Without the rear shaft, is the clunk gone? It sure seems like that gear lash would clunk pretty good.

Yes, without the rear driveshaft, not a loud clunk but slightly "thug" with CDiff/off, with CDiff/on No clunking no thug at all, completely silent, but except for whining appears during switching trans. I also can clearly hear a whining sound (+ clunking) when shifting trans with both driveshafts on their place.

I also have same issue, but my 200 is still working well. Even my old prado(1999) have same issue, also working good.
