Im curious if it’s okay to cut the slip shaft 1/4-3/4” if I am able to not screw up the splines too much? Is there a minimum acceptable amount of slip needed?

It looks like there’s a good 4” + on the female side before the male side bottoms out and I was shooting to try and use this dual cardan shaft vs having it cut/rebalanced.

I recently had mine shortened by two inches. A good driveshaft shop should be able to do it for about $75 which includes balancing
