Im out of town for work and my gf called me and said the door wouldnt open.....not with key, not with button, nothing. All the other doors work fine with locks. She finally was able to get it open with a coat hanger. Door opens and shuts fine as long a you dont lock it. Guess the actuator is bad. Anyway found where you can replace motor on the 100 series for a few bucks without replacing the whole thing. Is that an option on the 80s or is there another route? Also the windows were all slow when we got it and now that we moved to Colorado theyre worse....guess due to the cold. Whats the best way to fix these issues? Thanks

I've heard of some guys here replacing their runs for quicker window operation. The actuator, dunno, curious to see if anyone knows a fix sans replacement. I usually just crack open my problem and start tinkering to see if it's something I can fix. Good luck.

If the key did not work then the problem is not with the actuator motor it is in the linkage or the clips that attach it.

My windows worked a little slow in the summer--now that it is 20 degrees, they barely close--need help with the hand. I guess my take is--its winter---I probably don't need the windows open very often. I don't think Window runners will help much. Warm weather will

Theres too many cases documented to show that the runners are 90% the cause of this. Some said cleaning of elec contacts helped and some cleaning of mechanism, etc.
I found that spraying some WD40 or silicon spray down the rails makes a big difference. The rubber get's hard with age and gathers grime so they still might need replacing soon but this could be a good temporary fix.
Yea just replace the runs and clean the snot out of everything. I bet you will be better off.

They are about $130 for both front windows.
Tell the kids no smoking in the back and you can save some $$$, even thou they do have ash trays.
I'd give each lock cylinder (including tailgate) a shot of a dry lube. This is what is best per the reputable lock shop in my town. He said 1 second shot is sufficient or it just gums them up.

I have the same problem. My windows roll down quickly but they take FOREVER to roll back up and sometimes need to be assisted. What is the cause of this? Bad motor? Grime and dust buildup on gears?
