As I shut my driver's door I get a loud thwunk. Looks like whatever piece inside that stops the door from swinging all the way open, may have broken... it still stops the door but slides around on the last 1 1/2" or so of the rod.

I am pretty sure the thwunk is that piece getting caught on the window track as it shuts.

Anybody know what I need to do to fix it? Kinda hard to see how that piece attaches.

Due to the overwhelming replies, I was able to pinpoint the problem (sarcasm)

It seems over time that little straight piece that shoots into the door as you close it, had bent its way into kind of a boomerang shape and was indeed getting caught on the window track and bending the %^( out of it every time I shut the door. I removed it by just tapping that tapered pin out and feeding it into the door through the speaker hole. Then I whacked it with a hammer to straighten it out and taped the metal end piece in place (I guess it had somekind of plastic stopper at one time) and fed it back through and reinstalled the tapered pin.

Keep in mind that it is much easier if you have aftermarket speakers mounted from the front. otherwise pulling the door panel would be in order.
