Going to a wedding tomorrow so wanted to shine up the 460 and le sigh in the middle of the wash during one of the fluid sprays it starts raining inside the cabin on the drivers side from the sunroof tray.

It was quite a bit of water so I’m airing the GX out currently. I did run the hose on the sunroof for several minutes and didn’t get any more water leaking in the cabin so it appears to have only occurred with a high pressure spray and when the air blowers came on. Strange that this hasn’t happened during a rain storm either

Suggestions on how to fix this issue? I really don’t want to have to take it to the dealer. And I’d likely want to clean out all four on the 460 and 470 as a precautionary measure.

Did you look around the rim of the and/or seal of the opening?
In my old 100 series, I once had some hard berries, or whatever that were about the size of a pea drop from a tree that I was parked under with the sun roof open. That prevented the sunroof from closing and sealing completely which lead to a small leak.
I just ran my fingers around the edge and blew everything out with my compressor. Problem fixed!
I hope it's something that easy for you.

Sunroof seal gap wide enough allowed water in-flow that exceeded the capacity of the drains?

I assume the front drains are clear?

Rears can only be cleaned out by dropping the headliner

Be sure to keep an eye on this as water can easily overflow in the front drain area if plugged and heads right down the A-Pillars onto lots of ECUs.

I didn’t see anything but I’ll look again.

That almost happened today. Lots of water pouring down the a-pillar and over the headliner right above my head. I wasn’t sure where the drain holes are, couldn’t find a picture of it. If there is no obstruction and the sunroof is closed what should be my next step? I don’t have an air compressor yet to replace my old one so I’ll need an alternative to try and remove any debris in the drain tubes.

What’s a shop charge to clean out those drains just in case I suck at it?

Just use some weedeater line and snake down through...

Take a look at this CL thread

So my remote didn’t unlock the 460 today so I thought the remote battery was dead so I changed my remote battery and I still cannot unlock/lock the vehicle—well it worked once (lock) after I replaced the battery. I can still start it by putting the key on the start button.

Did the water fry the remote receiver? Or is it something else?

It could be the certification ECU or BCM but the latter would probably cause more things to not work. Do you have TS or OBD Fusion to pull codes?

Certification ECU is in nav area so probably not that one... Main Body Control ECU in is footwell area of front A Pillar

It starts up fine with only the TPMS light on and no apparent other issues as everything else seem to work. I do have an OBD II reader but not one of those you mention.

Interesting that the door control receiver is in the back so it is unlikely to of gotten wet. But it still might be bad as my range to lock/unlock has been diminishing the last couple months.

What do you suggest I do next?

Edit, I really think the door control receiver is bad and is just a coincidence that it happened at the same time as the water intrusion from the sunroof.

Edit 2, after reading that topic in its entirety if all the door handles don’t unlock the doors the ECU is bad? **** I cannot afford to have that happen.

Ok plugged up my scanner anyway and everything came back good. This however is leading me to believe it is the door control receiver unless there is a fuse somewhere that is blown.

You may want to go through the troubleshooting guide in FSM for this system:

WIRELESS DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM is located at this path:
/rm14k1e/repair2/html/frame_rm000000xx202px.html

If you haven't downloaded....install on a Mac/Win box. Navigation is via your web browser

If you can get TS up and running on something that will give vehicle a full health check.

A good second is OBD Fusion/Link.

I've got TS and OBD fusion if you want to try it.

I would very much so thank you. I gotta figure this out asap by week’s end, and I really hope it isn’t the ECU.

What’s your availability for the next four days?

Ok.... that could simply be a failing FOB issue there.

Is the red LED lighting up in upper left corner of FOB when you push buttons?

Intermittently and there is a delay when I press the button before the little red light blinks.
