Decided to buy the Doug Thorley headers and will take a crack at installing them myself (pretty big task for me).

I see the headers on eBay for about $600. Are there any other parts that I need to purchase separately?

Would love some tips for the install if you guys have any. I remember someone mentioning the need for a new exhaust system after installing the headers, but it wouldn’t be the first time my memory failed me.

I’m definitely NOT looking to change the beautiful stock sound. I’m purely just looking for the extra HP while towing.

From what i have read, use the OEM toyota gaskets, not the ones that come with the DT headers.

Oem Toyota gaskets.

Has anyone ever dynoed to see if they make power?

Yes, follow up would be appreciated.

im still looking for an installer in socal :(

I just had the headers installed as an upgrade to a cracked manifold. It was a way bigger task than I have the skills or time for, so I hired it out to a local indy (GAS in Woodstock GA, if interested. Great guys, though the tech said he didn't want to ever install another set )

There really hasn't been much improvement via the butt-dyno. It's been a week since having them put in and I've put maybe 1200 miles on them. I did, however, manage to get a little over 16MPG on a road trip through up and down mountain highways. That's better than I've ever gotten in a Cruiser before.

If you're able to install them yourself, they may be worth the cost of entry. In my own opinion, just from what I've experienced thus far, they weren't really worth the cost of entry. Maybe a cat-back is in order next to wake her up

Still waiting to install mine. Will do it myself when I have 2 full days to spare and when its not 1million degrees out with 90% humidity. Dont wanna pay the $1000 bucks+ install...

Does it make the truck louder at all? It doesn't look like a fun job, that's for sure.
