So, just a word of warning about Dobinsons bumpers, DON'T BUY THEM!!!! I purchased a new Dobinsons rear bumper and a new ARB front bumper for my 80 series Land Cruiser this past winter and installed them in May 2024. Within the first 3 weeks of installation, the paint on the Dobinsons started flaking off on the passenger side corner. I contacted Dobinsons and asked them about their warranty and was told that it was my fault that the bumper started flaking/rusting at the corner because I had not installed the pin correctly and it was rubbing on the bumper when I would swing the tire mount out. I took pictures of the pin and it's position (approx. 1/3" above the bumper), when the swing arm was deployed, along with video of all the mechanisms as the swing arm/tire mount was being deployed. The rep at Dobinsons basically stated that he didn't believe me and said that although the pin didn't come into contact with the bumper in the video, he thought that it had at some point in time, and Dobinsons would not warranty the paint. I bought the Dobinsons because I didn't want to spend the money on the higher costing rear ARB bumper. That being said, I wish I would have just gone ahead and bought the rear ARB. Dobinsons paint is complete s*** and I hope nobody makes the same mistake that I did. Buy once, cry once, and be done with it...buy ARB! Sorry, but I just needed to rant.

Damn that sucks. I bet they don't want to pay for the shipping back and forth from Alaska too, if that is where you currently live.

Also, there is a group buy right now for Higgy's Off Road rear bumper.

Yeah, I'm sure that's the issue they have with it, but the fact that they won't even admit fault and work with me at any level really pisses me off. Hell, they didn't even offer to send me some touch up paint and advice on how to deal with the problem. I'm just really disappointed with their whole CS and lack of ownership.

Dobinsons customer service is dog**** in the US. Do a chargeback on your card

Why was this moved to the classified adds?? I'm not trying to sell anything, I just want to express my dissatisfaction about Dobinsons bumpers>

This is the section for that.

Is that powder coat or just painted? If it was powder coated that is really crappy powder coat, a good powder coat won't chip even with a hammer.

The bad thing is it isn't paint, it is probably powder coated and the person laying down the powder coating failed and did not prep it correctly.

As I mentioned earlier here is the link for the group buy for the bumper from @Cruiserhiggs

Scott is a great guy and I am sure will stand behind his product.

Higgy's Rear Bumper Group buy
I’ll second Scotty, Higgy’s, and that bumper. I don’t own an 80 but I’ve seen the bumper in person and it’s a great piece of work. Good dude, good company, good bumper. Something to consider if you’re ditching the Dobinson.

I know it's hours of labor to do this, but remove the bumper and have a local trusted powdercoater strip and refinish the bumper. Sadly alot of "high end" parts I've bought from vendors on Mud that claim to have amazing powdercoating, came chipped right out of the box or easily chipped during install. I've had hundreds of parts coated locally by having a very trustworthy commercial powder coat place do the work so I know what a good job looks like. I never bothered getting money back or complaining to any of these companies, it's a losing battle.

Agreed. Also, Hecho in USA: supporting local economy. Important.

That looks horrible. That sucks they won't do anything. Gotta stand behind you product.

Wow. Ya bad prep. I know you recommended ARB but they can’t handle the abuse, bump up to Slee imho.
