I can bring it back to you when needed.

I am officially a Cruiser Junky. I talked to the guy I'm taking the axles off of. I'm picking up the whole 89 Fj62 drivetrain (motor, tcase, and trany) for $500. I now have insurance if anything major ever busts in my truck. The motor sounded a little beat but I mainly wanted the split case. Now I have 2 spare A440F tranys. :grinpimp:

This also means I have a whole extra drivetrain and extra set of stock 88 axles... I could make a buggy if I wanted to spend the rest of my life in the garage.

My .02. Strip the stock axles for spare parts you'll want to have on the trail and put the powertrain in COLD storage. Drain it, squirt some oil in the spark plug holes and fuggedaboudit for a few years.

Did you ask Jim about my tires?

BTW, I met speedwaver yesterday. Sounds like you guys had some fun.

Spdwaver1 and I had a great time last week in the local wash. He has a fun little cruiser.

Jim as asking me to ask you about the tires. He still has them and is waiting for you or the potential buyer to contact him.

Next weekend I might start disassembling some parts. Extra help is welcome.

SOA Build Party! Weekend of May 2-3

CANCELLED!-----------------------------------------------------------------

Parts are being shipped and all is ready for the assembly period. I will be hosting the build party in the back of my Dad's shop on Sheldon Street Sat May 2nd and Sun May 3rd. Please let me know how many are coming so I can plan food and beer accordingly. Starting time will be announced as we get closer.

Here are the plans:

-Disassemble steering, axles, and springs off current rig.
-install Joey and Al's 60 springs which are better than my saggy 62 springs.
-Weld ruff stuff perches onto front and rear axles
-Rebuild front and rear axles.
-Install new 4.88 ARB third members
-Install Hi-Steer kit from Luke
-Install new brake lines
-mount 35" tires
-mount driveshafts

I would like to borrow better jack stands, who has tall ones?

I went with Luke 4x4 Labs stearing and six stud knuckles. This should allow for bigger tires and hydro steer in the future if I ever want to make it a trail only rig.

I have some decent jack stands you can use.

Is anyone going to come who has the jack stands so I don't need to pick them up? I'll trade beer for their borrowed use...

I'll figure out logistics when I get back in town next weekend. Thanks for all the offers.

I will try to find the mate for the jack I gave Joey.

Just a thot. Are normal jack stands gonna be even close to tall enough to hold your rig up high enough to get SOA springs and axles under the rig? Seems to me that would take a LOT of height, way more than a traditional jack stand. Have you researched this?

I have stock jack stands and they are too short. I was hoping that people had taller ones. Someone has to have some safe way of holding up SOA vehicles during service and installation.

Worst case scenario I'd have to hold the whole thing up with a forklift. :D

Forklift is the way to go with jacks under it.

I'm going to have to cancel this weekend! I don't have a new company car yet and this FJ62 has to be my DD. I will reschedule.
