Spray those spots with engine cleaner, hose it with water and keep looking. This is where a sit stand creeper would be a great asset

It's still cold in the Midwest so I may have to wait until it's bit warmer. However, if I do hose it down with water, what part of the engine should I be careful not to get it wet? I heard some say it's the starter but is that the only thing. Thanks!
