There is no replacement for the 79 factory air Pig, by looking at the dimensions on the FJ60 radiator, I could make one of them fit, with some mods, I did mod a used FJ60 one for my lil bros 74 pig, but it has a 350 with lots of room up front.....
Mark if you know a source for a bolt in Pig radiator please share.....

If it were me, I would spend zero time trying to figure out how well my 25-30 YO water pump was working. Everything else is already out and disconnected. JTO sells a new waterpump for $50.

Sorry... I was thinking about FJ40 rads when I wrote that. :( I have heard of people fitting a dodge rad in a pig... I think Brian Steen did this several years ago (over 10 years ago now I guess when I saw it).

PO claimed to have put one in just before I bought it.....:meh:. I get your drift tho.....

After further review the PO DID NOT change the water pump....

And when you pull the head to do the head gasket, I recommend grinding the valves and replacing the seals. ;)

If that is what it comes to I will surely do it. That being said, the shop that I had it checked at said there was no evideence of a faulty head gasket. I am not talented enough to go chasing after that either....so I am going to do what they recommended....

After I am done with this one my 74 that is sitting in the shed will come easy. Heck, I might as well keep this one now.

Radiator shop re rodded, cleaned and said it was VERY dirty. Said if it was overheating, that was prolly why! I am picking it up this afternoon and will have it up and running by tomorrow hopefully. Depends on how busy my day is. I will let you all know if it runs cooler....in case anyone cares.....

What's the verdict if it runs cool will you keep it now?

posted on the fly using my thumbs.

No...I really want to focus on the other pig in the sty.....but did not want to sell a headache to someone else!

Thanks for the updates, so please let us know if it's running any cooler. Still very interested in buying it ;)

:D and if ya can't get her figured out id be willing to take it off your hands still running hot and tow it home ;) I'll deal with your headache for ya

Will do....leaving for Boise ID tomorrow to go see my brother and his girlfreind.....flying, not driving so I cant bring anything home! Hopefully get it all back together by early next week....

Coming together. Put a new waterpump on too. Will put radiator and stuff on tomorrow. I am going to take the Radiator back to the shop as it sounds like it has a little bit of sand in it.....or rust.....I am going to see if that is normal since I just paid them 95 bucks to rod it out.....

So. New water pump. Themostat. All new hoses and clamps. Cleaned and rodded radiator. It is does not run cooler I am not sure what else it could be....

Except the HEAD GASKET....Fingers are crossed...
new radiator step 1.webp

Put it all together and gave it a test run. It was midnight and still 98 degrees.....it passed. Barely got to the first white line. I am going to drive it to work tomorrow it 110 degree weather to give it the ultimate test....

Another battle won....but the war goes on.

Ran it today in town and it is 108 degrees here (take me back to Boise please)..... Landshark ran cool as a cucumber! Thanks for the help everyone!
