Does anyone rebuild and modify Belleview winches?

I have a Belleview winch that may have been original on my 73 FJ40. While it works it is one of the models that only powers in and does not power out. I have been told this winch can be modified so it will power both in and out. Does anyone know of a company that can do this or how it is done?

Do a search. There is a company that can sell you the kit for it ~180.00 They are out of MN.
