I run the 4" progressives -

the ride is awesome
the powder coat is falling off after 2 years (my old springs lost all the powder coat too)

Hi Im considering the C97-146VT and C97-147 VT for a tapered 2.5 inch lift I would like to know id this setup helps articulation and gives it a slinkier offroad experience. On road setup if its firm enough and what weight has been added.

I'm planning on running 33 inch on a 4.56 Ring n Pinion with a low range crawl gear of 3.12

After talking to Dobinsons, they moved me to the linear coils due to my weight. I think these C59-312 (front)
My overall weight is 6800 (ish) I think. I know i'm about 400 heavier. I've run, worn out stock to OME (dont remember the rate) to these. Great ride, good articulation on moderate (dont hard core with this rig). I'm also running their shocks now.

Send them an e-mail. They respond quickly.

Love my Dobinsons coils on my 80. Mine are the 2" models.

Much smoother than my OME springs

Have this exact setup on one of our shop rigs. Haven't received the rear MRR shocks yet so we haven't had a chance to flog it, but the ride is nice so far. Has our bumpers front and rear, winch, 35" spare out the back.

Delta,
What were the fender to center hub measurements with this spring setup?

I have the exact same spring setup. I am 33" hub to fender on the rear and 33 1/4" on the front.

The IMS shocks are out of control awesome compared to the OMEs they replaced.

Getting an alignment this week and will have exact numbers but the truck is feeling excellent on road with the 4" Delta VS arms.

Wouldn't 33" hub to fender be like a 10" lift? Perhaps it's 23"

How's the powder coating now, in 2021? Anyone else having this issue?

Hey Delta VS, that seems like a fair amount of weight for the progressive coils. Are you happy with how it rides, or do you wish you had gone with a linear coil? How much weight do you have in the rear of your 80 that is running the progressive coils?
I am trying to decide between Dobinsons linear and progressive coils. I have a Slee front bumper and winch, and out back I have the stock bumper but have added a 53L frig, a 4X4 Labs interior rack holding two jerry cans of water, recovery gear, and camping kit. I don't carry much on the roof, maybe 100 lbs. top up there when it's a family trip. Do you have any thoughts about linear vs. progressive coils for my situation?

I have the progressive coils, run a similar setup.

The spring rate is perfect when the Jerry cams are empty. Too Soft when they are full.

🤷‍♂️

I'm thinking I may go with progressive coils in the front and liner in the rear. I'll talk with the folks at Dobinsons before I do that, to make sure I'm not doing something stupid. But it sounds like a reasonable approach to me.

To bet clear, there is a difference between the progressive and variable taper coils, keep that in mind. The ones on the Patrick's rig are the variable taper. Haven't had a chance to get axle weights for this one, so don't know actual weights. It sits nice and level with the spring combo though.

As far as ride goes, my personal rig is down for engine swap right now so I took the 95 to Cruise Moab and got plenty of seat time with the Dobinsons setup. I had no complaints at all. Performed as I would expect from my Icon setup.

I have the full Dobinsons 3" flexi coils set up and I love it. Just finished a day wheeling with Overland Experts in Culpepper. Va. They do off road driving training. They tried to use my truck to show off camber issues when one wheel is not touching the ground. My truck had so much flex, they just had to talk about how to deal with the problem "if it happens". :)

I have front and rear bumpers, 12000lb which, sliders, roof rack and Kiss drawer system with at least 150lbs of gear. Truck rides great and preformed just as I had hoped off road.

Hey Delta VS, can you post up the center of hub to bottom of fender/flare measurements at each of the four corners? I'm thinking about those same springs for my truck.

And thanks for getting my rear panhard bracket out to me so quickly. Nice piece of kit, that is.
