No, I'm not talking about your best Deliverance impersonation. :pig:

Just after start up, and for a few minutes, my 2008 with 140K has started to squeal. Doesn't squeal any other time. A little internet research on our Tundra cousins shows that there has been a problem with the drive belt tensioners. Since I'm getting ready to proactively replace my radiator, I'm thinking I should replace the tensioner. Idler pulley and belt were done 15K ago when idler went bad.

Any one else on here suspect or confirm a problem with their tensioner?

I recently had a small squeal during initial startup on my '11 with 52k miles. I replaced the belt, and the sound has since vanished but the weather has been substantially warmer. From the research I have done after my squeal was noticed, apparently 99% of the time it's the tensioner. So, I suspect when cooler weather returns in the fall, I will also replace the tensioner and pulley as PM. With your mileage, I am fairly certain that your squeal is coming from the tensioner.

For my 95k pm I replaced the water pump, tensioner, idler, belt, radiator, and spark plugs.

Was at least hoping for some better fuel economy, smoother power, something.

I got nothing, but that is preventive maintenance!!!

Truck was great and remains great.

I changed my radiator (due to leak) water pump, thermostat, upper and lower radiator hoses and drive belt (with a heavy duty Gates belt). I thought about the tensioner (as I was getting ready to put it all back together) - but didn't change it. I never had a squeal - and still don't. Ive got 100K on my truck. In my research I didn't notice tensioner failure coming up except for some Tundra's that had a recall (or TSB) about a tensioner issue.

I'm sure it can't hurt to do it while you are in there! I didn't mainly because I didn't think of it until I was in there and I figure its not that big of a deal to change later if needed.

Thanx guys. Don't think a $70 part will break the bank, so I guess I will go ahead an do it. Hate to order parts when I'm not sure it is the problem, replaced too many parts in my youth because of a hunch that turned out wrong.
