97 LX 156K original HG and PHH

181,000.... dunno if the PO changed it or not as there was no mention of it while I was trying to get him to come down on the price.

1997 with 182,000 miles.

Having the head gasket replaced now due to failure.

question

130K w/ original HG.

I was wondering if there is any correlation to the HG failure and poor cooling system maintenance. That sounds like a dumb question but I guess i am wondering if we are also documenting how many people with HG failures also have radiator corrosion, or other symptoms of owners not replacing fluid/ other maintenance. My LX was dealer maintained and when i took off the radiator cap it was shiny inside.:D it looked brand new.

Coolant is suppose to have corrosion fighting additives and after reading a post by Robbie about how he thinks the green is easier on HGs it got me to wondering if Toy Red needs to be on a more frequent replacement cycle than the green that has been recommended. I have never been as OCD about changing coolant as i have for the lx and still have never experienced HG issues on other vehicles.

160k miles, have symptoms of a blown head gasket...

Two weeks ago the temp gauge went above halfway mark a little then went back to normal and now have a leaking radiator, empty coolant overflow, and bubbles in the coolant... 120k-130k had the radiator rodded out and new thermostat, PHH'ectomy coolant flush and refill with green stuff... Bought the truck with 118k miles with a funny smell to the exhaust, so the headgasket was going back then...

220k original HG and original PHH....HG will be replaced soon for piece of mind.

The '97 with 150 K and the '96 with 171 K aare on original HG's.

1994 with 236k on the original HG, PHH was replaced (judging by the clamps that on there now) but don't know when.

220k original HG and original PHH....HG will be replaced soon for piece of mind.

My 96 has the original HG, and PHH with 224,000 on the clock. Glad I am not the only one with over 200,000 on the orig PHH.

252,000 miles, original head gasket. Temps according to Scanguage II hover between 180 and 190. Drain and fill yearly with toyota red.

HG still going strong...almost !

350K plus miles on original HG and PHH.

Bad news is that it is going bad so plan B is in the works as we speak. A 'new' motor will be installed by PowderPig and I hopefully this Sept. Maybe I'll get another 350K out of that one as well ?

1994 with 206k
blown hg repaired at 173k
cruiser was a WA car then CA last 6-7 years

PO had it for 50K miles, then next owner for 150K, now I've had it for 8K miles. So as far as me and the second owner are concerned it is still Orginial HG at 208K, I only Overhauled the cooling system and changed PHH few month ago.

Sspension and Front axle is nexty and power steering.
