Just some anecdotal research.

If you have over 150,000 miles on your 1FZ-FE please note if you have your original HG or have had it replaced.

97 TLC - 157k - Original HG

I have 160,xxx. ENOUGH THREADS ABOUT MILEAGE!!!

my daughters 80 has 162K miles, the HG failed and was replaced by the PO.

My 80 has 132K miles and I replaced it as PM for the reasons in your other thread.

Can you traduce in Spanish, my FJ80 is 152.000 Milles

190K, '94. Currently down with failed HG (bubbles, temp fluctuation, etc). I have what seems to be full paperwork from POs, so I'm assuming the HG is original.

Well so far one in five

Right in line with the poll stats. 1 in 5 is enough for me. Id rather do it when im prepared than be who knows where when/if it goes.

I also know Kevin Ehrlicks HG just went at 175K, but that does not fit the norm since he put a supercharger on at 130K miles

I've got 212k on my original, s/c added @ 150k. No signs of failure, just had my cooling system pressure tested and it was perfect.

I assume a leaking HG would show up on a pressure test, can someone confirm?

at the begening manybe not, are you looing any coolant? if no then you HG is likely OK.

'93 260,000+mi. original HG And most everything else.:D

168k, 2 HG's. blah:rolleyes: The first one didn't blow, but was replaced when something else broke and require the engine to be rebuilt at 124k. The second one was put in at 148k when it blew externally.

I bought mine with about 154k & a new cooling system. I have no proof but I believe the engine was rebuilt as it has alot of power (for a behemoth)and is very very clean.

150,000+
Original HG (and no signs of failing.....................yet)
