Subject says it all!

I needed some more fuel line to finish up my aux tank install and it was late on a Sunday. I used some heater hose instead as a "Temp" fix until i got to the parts store to replace with the right stuff.

Well, i spaced out, forgot the hose was for the heater, filled the rig, got some (a little from overfilling) fuel into the vents and it ate the hose! The ends were seeping goo (assuming it is from the hose being broken down by the gas) in less then 2 days!

Lesson Learned! Dont be a dumbass! :flipoff2:

Hope there's no residual crap/goo in your tank that could get into the fuel lines you dumbass (your words - not mine) hehehe :flipoff2:

Seriously - hope it all works out - you've put alot of effort into that subtank.

"SHOULD" be fine, i have a total of 3 fuel filters in place! 2 will be removed after the first 4 or 5 fillups in the aux tank (too many damn hose clamps that could possibly become leaks right now with the extra filters and reducers and such).

I used extra precautions to removed the crap that was in the new tank during building/shipping!

I installed a "Clear" fuel filter and it has caught a good amount of crap that you can actually see trapped in it, its doing its job!

Cross your fingers!

You deserve a "thousand lashes with a Fuel hose"!!

I Concur!

I suggest a hose filled with #6 shot to give it a bit of a "zip"....;)

Hey, at least i posted up in case for some bizarre reason another dumbass was thinking of trying this! :D

Do we all get a turn with the hose ? I promise to practice swinging one.

Yeah... but what KIND of hose?

Just as important but more often overlooked: Don't use heater hose for oil lines, i.e; tranny cooler or power steering. Same result in the end.

BM Thanks for posting up, becasue next time someone thinks of using heater hose for soemthing besides coolant they will remeber the 1000 lashings they will recieve for doing so :grinpimp:

I know it's not supposed to be used, I used a molded heater line for my oil return line on my turbo mini truck. I got a year under the belt, no leaks, line feels very firm still. Hell, I work at NAPA, I tell people not to use heater line for oil, but hey it's worked for me.

An oil return line from the turbo? You're a very lucky man. I know they make dual-purpose hose, perhaps you got some. If not, I'd hate to think of what gummy rubber would do to a turbo (or main bearing, cam bearing, etc.) if it builds up in the bearings or something. You're a braver man than I.
