This is how I fixed a broken wiper pivot stud on my FJ55.
First I filed the stud to get a good flat spot so I can drill.
I used a center punch to get a good start on drilling, Then I started with a small 1/8" drill bit to see how far I could drill into the pivot stud, I ended up drilling 1/2" into the pivot, After I got deep enough, I used a 5/16" bit to get the desired size for the tap
I used a 10NF32 tap to match the bolt I found, It took a little digging to find a good size and length.
Test fit, Then added a little anti seize just in case.
Tool list ... File, Drill with 1/8" and 5/16", center punch, hammer, 10NF32 tap, 8mm socket and wrench, bolt and 2 washers.
I took a quick look at my 40 to see if they were similar, I dont think they are, The 40's seem to have much shorter wiper pivot, But its hard to say.
Good luck
