Decided to run without my front disc brake bashing plates - I mean heck I don't have any on the rear disc conversion - and no problems over the last several years.

So a few questions: 1) Can you just simply toss the plates and mash the dust shields over the spindle? Looks like they'll get a little disfigured and might retain a tad bit of wather or gunk - but heck seems I am always taking them off for some reason.

2) Does not having the small shim from the caliper aligning tab cause any misalignment of the Caliper on the rotor?

If both these are a problem what does everyone else do - just cut down the plates to retain those to parts to keep everything aligned?

I have seen people cut them to save the center piece so that the step in the spindle is not a issue with the external hub seal the attaches to the spindle.

The caliper is attached with the two 14mm bolts....that brace piece is to support the dust shield...

Good luck!
