I have been waiting for this day for a long time and wanted to share what they look like and give some updates.

I hope you enjoy the eye candy too...

Pros:
  • Very Very High clearance
  • Minimal look
  • Does not add bulk to the rig
  • Winch mount
  • Light mounts
  • Makes servicing the front end easier
Cons:
  • Vulnerable front control arms, axles, steering Rack
  • Slight addition of weight

Sure looks great for the like minded. This level of clearance is for a different category of vehicles. Like short wheel base Wrangler or bj40 era or short pick-up trucks IMO

That secondary crossmember is for towing. I wonder if not installed (and not towing), how valuable it is to the bumpers strength.

I've thought it would be interesting to "tub" the trunk floor... so the spare tire could be raised and nearly flush with the frame rails. A middle ground in placement. Not hanging below but also not completely intrusive in the trunk. It might resemble the hybrid battery in the LC250.

Where’s your spare tire?
Feels like for most that’s on the cons list.
This series of bumpers is certainly not for everyone. On the shop builds running these extreme clearance bumpers with no swing outs, we do not carry a spare and instead opt for repair kits like glue treads.

We obviously still make the bigger selling swing out bumpers for those not needing the even better departure angle for the harder trails.

I *love* the way that rear bumper looks, but I don't want to give up the spare tire in the original location on my white 100 (the green one already has it on a swingout).

My main motivation in getting this kit is for more fun in the dunes here in SoCal, I don't want to add size or weight and wanted more protection and clearance.

I go overlanding and have fun going at speed in the sand, this kit would not be for those who want to slap tons of trinkets to their rig and drive slowly through long expeditions.

The spare tire is a bummer in some situations, however, it provides more clearance and there are lots of wheel alternatives for on-trail repairs.

Sure, might call for an adapter or mild customization.

How was your install on the front? Did you have to mess with the AC lines?

@mckunz do you have a build thread?

Out of curiosity, when did you order & receive your bumpers?

I ask bc I saw where some ordered the front Black Friday 2023 but never posted any pics

@GatorBait1551 is this the only thread you know where the extreme clearance is being talked about? I have some good photos and tips for instructions - it's a great bumper (wrapping my install this weekend)

Crossfit Zach has the high clearance rear and I believe he's trying to figure out a way to add a swing arm to it. @BurnsCrew

I don't understand how the bumper makes the control arms and steering rack more vulnerable, though. The front LCAs are super exposed stock, and this bumper doesn't take away anything that would protect them. You just don't need to bend down to see them anymore.

I’ve got plans and parts. Just need to put them into action. Probably after COTR.

Front bumper doesn’t really make things more exposed IMO. it’s just up out of the way, so you’re not slamming into rocks more. If you go plowing into a mud pit full of sticks, highly doubt the stock plastic will do much for protection.

@mckunz thanks for the photos, looks great. How much do you have to cut from the rear? Got any photos of that?
