The long winter nights with my Landcruiser in storage have me wondering, and possibly overthinking...

What would be the pros and cons of each of the snorkel types on the market for the 100 series Landcruiser?

I briefly looked at the In House Fabrication snorkel. I believe the Type 2 that you have shown has an interference with the antenna. People were discussing heating the snorkel to route it around the antenna but I'm not sure if there has been a more favorable fix yet.

I'm not sure there is much difference except for where you drill the 4" hole. I have the Type 2 and it's been pretty flawless. However, I would never recommend a "stock" snorkel. I installed the "Sy-Klone Series 9001r Air Precleaner" and removed the silly top piece. My Air filter stays extremely clean since the precleaner removes most of the dust, etc... (9001R Sy-Klone Series 9000 Engine Precleaner - https://store.sy-klone.com/9001r-sy-klone-series-9000-engine-precleaner) (No, I don't get anything for recommending them)
It's costly, but well worth it. I've literally had folks in parking lots checking out the precleaner.

The Type 1 (Safari Brand) was the old style.... and I believe the CFM rating was low for the 2UZ. Safari came out with an improved flow version called the Armax. Careful when ordering any snorkels. There are like 4-5 different air boxes.

It used to be that you'd have to make a dent in the plastic to clear the US antenna on top of the fender, but most of that style now have the divot. It's the first style that fully ran into where the US antenna motor is in the fender, you'd have to go to a fixed antenna to use that one.

If you go TJM Airtec, you'll need to blank off the antenna hole and go to a fixed one. Here's a photo of mine for reference (RHD here in the land of Oz).

Wait a minute ! Are you expressing a bias based on the locality marked under my avatar?
For the benefit of your culture, I'd like to inform you that in my part of the country, there's an immense amount of public land accessible to all. In Quebec, freshwater occupies nearly 10% of the territory. Quebec has 3% of the planet's renewable freshwater. I could very well need a snorkel on every expedition I go on that isn't... in the city of Montréal

Can you find Montréal on this map without help or whatsoever ?

For the others and your answers, thank you for your comments. I had already read a lot about snorkels and knew what was at issue with the antenna. However, I hadn't read anything about the 2 types of configuration. Also note that I have no burning desire to buy such equipment. I was trying to learn more about the subject.

A smiple question as most snorkels are used for dust purposes.

And for your info, I grew up kinda sorta maybe just south of montreal (northern vermont), so know very well where it is (almost went to college at mcgill....uvm instead).

Hope this clarifies my question intent. geez

late response: I would be very impressed if you plan to use it for watercrossings.

OK that's fine! I was looking for the angle of your comment and suspected consedendence.

As for the dust, obviously, none of the forest roads are paved, and as I often travel in convoys with my club members, I can assure you that it would indeed be very useful.

Any chance you can share a picture? Thinking about a snorkel+sy-Klone combo for my cruiser too
