Hello All,

I recently took the leap of faith and purchased a 1985 HJ47 pickup truck from Central America. (I tried to debate the owner about it being a 1984 but all the paperwork does show 5/85).

My faith was shaken some when the HJ47 showed up not as described in the Ebay listing. While it is a really cool and not-for-sale truck, Hogzilla does come with some missing parts and damage that was not described in the Ebay listing.

As my item's Ebay description was thick with fraud, buyer beware dealing with Angel and Leo Atencio or dieselcruiserimports1. I already communicated with Ebay and the Internet Fraud unit of the DOJ about the photograph misrepresentations and misleading statements.

I seriously doubt much routine maintenance was performed on the vehicle except to weld together the frame. Oh well, a justification to tinker on something.

Best regards,

John

First of all let me start out by saying I'm sorry man.

The intent of these sellers, specifically Asdae on this forum, have been questioned and discussed at length due to the apparent representation of their vehicles based on their descriptions and the photos posted.

I remember this one where they stated that the truck had original low miles and when you looked at the photo it is clear that the odometer had been changed/rebuilt because the 10'ths wheel, which is white not black like the others, was in the first position instead of the last. Pics are there to prove it.

What still surprises me is that even after being told this info, these people still stood by there assertion that it was original miles...

But for those of you not following this saga, here is one of the more interesting links.

If you want more just look at Asdae's profile and find threads started by her.

Good luck. I think you can use the info others posted on here about previous trucks they put up for sale and the condition of those as evidence that they do not know what they are selling.

Oh, and I for one would be very interested if you could post the original description as I cannot find it on Ebay as well as some more pics of what is wrong with the truck.

If you can.

Thanks.

These trucks in Costa Rica are used for work from day one. The owners utilize them heavily every day for work. They usually do try their best to maintain the vehicle and keep it presentable because it is usually a key part of the bread winner for the family. Hence, the welded frames and bondo. That's part of keeping the truck working daily.

The Ebay listing described a 5 speed transmission but actually is a H41, 4 speed tranny. The truck does have a 5 speed shifter knob. The cooling system showed up dry, drained dry. The radiator had numerous holes. The sedimenter was long gone. The power steering is not factory installed but does work nicely. The interior was descibed in excellent condition with everything working and all present but it is not so. The interior is actually in fair condition with vinyl tears, missing knobs, radio, ash tray and weatherstripping all gone.

Angel blamed it on US Customs for all the missing parts. Not quite. Angel said the spare tire couldn't be shipped. I didn't want the tire, I wanted the split rim.

Pretty darn clever those government boys.

And skilled--what nerve, to just go steal that guy's 5-speed and switch it to a 4-speed--not to mention all the other changes needed to make it look like it was a 4-speed in there from the start !

I can hear Angel's argument now: "it is a 5 speed: 4 forward, one reverse. Can I help it if I don't know Land Cruisers? I'm just trying to make an honest buck while my husband and I are here before we move home to America."

In my years of working of many types of cars/trucks/aircraft I have found that anything can be put back to is right condition, yes it takes time and the all mighty dollar but if done right SLOCRUISER you will have the last laugh with a super ride. Also what goes around will come around that I believe.
Cheers

I also bought a BJ40 from them which was grossly misrepresented. And they did a negligent power steering conversion which broke apart when I was driving. The shaft was not properly attached to the ujoints, so the lower u joint hung up on one axis, the upper one was not installed deep enough on the splines, the power steering unit was installed too far forward, the pulley on the pump was not aligned.
Instead of buying the correct U joints to mate the Saginaw, they welded together two u Joints. They also badly welded the shaft together.
See my post at https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/finding-steering-shaft-for-1980-bj40.825896/
I was lucky not to be killed when the welded u joint snapped apart while I was driving.
They have changed their ebay name to goldendays91
evidently to fool new potential buyers.

well, i can give first hand info to anyone that wants to know my feelings after meeting with Angel and seeing the trucks in Costa Rica.
