so I replaced my injectors with a set rebuild by Okanagan diesel. Drove around for a few days, noticed diesel smell. Noticed that there is a leak at #6 injector connection from the supply line. Pulled off and wiped off the cupped connections, torqued back up, still leaking.

People dealt with this before?

Just a thought Nick, move the injector that's currently leaking to a different cylinder and see if the leak still persists. You'll be able to determine if it's the injector sealing surface or your injection line that's giving you issues. Be careful with the torque

That's a really good idea! I'll try that tonight.

Maybe before you switch injectors around, try loosening both ends of the injector pipes and any support ties between them. This will help align them and allow full contact on the sealing surfaces.

That's my first plan of attack.

I am a little nervous, my experience with these connections is that they are pretty idiot proof... seems odd I can't get one to seal. Unless I'm just a buffoon.

Are they typically sensitive to miss alignment?

Good alignment always helps, and in several ways. If twisted, the lines are always in tension and that can lead to cracking, and being in alignment allows the flare fittings to be centered when tightening.

I would suggest tightening the leaking end first this time. I use a touch of grease or anti-sieze on the threads. I do this with the injectors also.

Hope the fix is easy.

I would try and get it sealed before you shift injectors to different locations. The copper o-rings/washers are single use items, once torqued up, if you replace an injector, you "should" replace the orings.

as others have said, alignment is important. also check you have no crud caught in the tapered fitting

Well I aligned the thing perfectly last night taking off the mounting clips and the bottom connection at the pump and it still leaked.

My buddy in town will switch out his #6 line so we can determine if it's the line. He helped me install my injectors and he said he noticed #6 was particularly cranked on there far more than the others. Perhaps the PO had a leak as well and cranked the s*** out of it. One can only hope that's the case.

Talked to some guys in the know for these things and apparently you can mushroom the ferrule on the fuel line if you hulk it on too much. That's probably what happened on this one.

For anyone that's doing injectors for the first time - don't over-tighten!

Replaced the line with 23706-17020 from partsouq. Very shiny! Seems to have solved my issue, ferrule looked squashed slightly on the old line. No more leak.
