Would this engine work? Any thoughts, I am looking to go with something more current when mine dies. Maybe they will have hydrogen fuel cell by that time? If not, then I am opting for diesel.

Take a look at this from Japan:

eBay Motors: TOYOTA HiLUX/PICK-UP/4RUNNER TURBO DIESEL ENGINE-2L-TE (item 220302027804 end time Nov-06-08 05:21:12 PST)

Pardon my sarcasm, but I think I might be able to walk faster than your rig with that engine in it??? That's not really fair for me to say because I have no specs on that engine. What can you tell us about that engine???

bawahahahahaha! nicely done jim!

fwiw, i thik dan from NM aka danshj45 has that engine in his toyota truck and he's happy with the fuel economy. but in a cruiser you'd be carrying a lot of extra baggage so i hope you're not in a hurry.

put a 13BT in it and be happy! :wrench:

I do have the same type in the faux-lux. I like the economy, power and torque. I do NOT like the head-cracking thing (and I worry about it a lot--even though mine has been good to me for 50K miles now). I would not in any way, shape, or form consider this for a cruiser (LJ-7X series included, it's just too weak to haul that much weight, I don't even like it for a 4-runner). I don't think it'd be super slow in a cruiser, but it'd be powerful enough until the head cracked, then it would be real slow.

Yep, or a 3B with turbo, or a 1HZ, or anything that is SUPPOSED to be in a cruiser.

Frankly, I wouldn't even put another 2LT-E into another pickup, I'd ONLY consider the 1KZ-TE for that application. The 2LT-E would be awesome in a Camry or Corolla or something though. And in my super lightweight little faux-lux, I'm pretty happy with it.

Dan
