the rig has 3 windshied wipers

http://forums.thecarlounge.net/zerothread?id=2184551&page=1

PLUS, the unveling photos show a much different rig than the latest round of supposed 'production' photos (which I realize is to be expected - just interesting to see the subtle changes): emblem on the grill now says "Toyota", hood 'latches' near intake vent were silver are now gone, TOYOTA stamp on front bib gone, door handles totally different, front winch and spotlight are gone, turn signals on rearview mirrors and the mirros themselves are totally different, front headlights totally diferent, different type of rack, that weird fin configuration of the front bumper in front of the wheels seems mellowed out a bit, added slide rails at doors, tires are now stock configuration,

These pics look to be the final production pics.

- I thought they were going to get rid of the big blind spot in the rear?

- What's with the crappy Dunflop street tires? Same ones as on the 4runner and they're crap.

- Interior looks really cool

- Won't have much real world ground clearance under the gas tank like the 4Runner

- hope it doesn't have plastic skid plates like the 05 taco's

- overall though I think its the coolest truck from toyota since the '84 4runner

I think you are confusing the prototype (2003) and and the "production" model (Feb 2005). The model that was introduced back in jan/feb is very similar, all that stuff was changed back then.

ditto to what Fire said

Also, I remember talk that the BFG AT's were going to be optional. The funny thing is how much do you want to bet you will need to get the upper end wheels to get em when personally I would prefer to take "less nice" steel wheels offroad.

:-)

I can't believe they haven't fixed the stupid looking tiny second window and blind-spot rear quarter.

I do like the all rubber floor.

I sure hope you can buy it without the ugly-ass factory luggage rack. Other than that, looks very cool, kudos to Toyota for stepping WAY OUTSIDE of their comfort zone to bring this vehicle into production.

Will there be a 4x2 version? I'm thinking the wife might like to replace her 4Runner with one of these.

Hope they have a Freeborn Red version, I think that would be PIMP!

I think the base model is 2wd. They have been advertising the price very low. I think it will be like the Tundras. They said it would be available for less than the F150's $15K starting price. For a 2wd, v-6, reg cab pauper package that you had to special order it was, but you sure couldn't find one on a lot like that.

Freeborn red would be cool and in my driveway for sure.

Gumby, haven't you read the info?

That lever is to remotely cool the groceries!!! :)

Actually I'm kinda diggin' that lever myself.

Minus the blindspot and the non-removeable top, I'm starting to like it more and more.

Doug

I think it looks cool. It still has that style of a small truck with big truck bones to it.
