I'm kinda worried they might total it.
I called my insurance agent this morning and he said book value is around $5,000. He also said once the adjuster comes and looks at it there is no turning back. In other words if the guy comes and says he's gonna total it, its totaled.
I went to the local body shop an got an estimate, I told him that I did not want it totaled and that I would be fixing it myself with an aftermarket bumper. He said the adjuster will look up the value and the deduct for milage, rust, tires, etc, etc. He kept the estimate low and still came in at $1,953
, thats with all brand new OEM parts. Hopefully if I explain everything to the adjuster he'll work with me and not total it.
I can't see why he won't work with me and agree to paying less rather than scraping it and paying out more.
