Dewalt cordless 14.4 drill maintenance

I have a 10 or so year old dewalt cordless that is my go to tool on ALOT of projects Its served me flawlessly for many years but it seems to be slowly losing torque or power, even with a full charge....Is there any brushes I can clean or surface or lubrication I can provide to keep this thing alive? It pretty much owes me nothing but I'd like to wrangle every last revolution I can out of it.....
 
Most Dewalts are fully serviceable. I just replaced the plastic clamshell on mine after it fell off a ladder and cracked. Go to Dewalt's website and you can look up parts there. IIRC most of their motors have replaceable brushes. The ones for my 18v were listed there, a whopping $5 for the two of them.
 
Good to know. I have 2 14.4 dwaltz. The older one is very tired and could use a once over if possible.

Better yet, keep it and create some custom leads and you can use with your 12V car battery. Or buy a new battery and keep using it. My 14.4 is over 10 years old and still going strong.
 
Most likely it's the batteries. They wear down over time. I've got an old 12v dewalt. I've bought 6 batteries over the past 15 years. It has served me well. I'm probably going to try to crack the batteries open and replace them myself since replacements are over 50. I did in the mean time just go out and buy a new drill. Dewalts were way expensive. Ended up with a lithium Ion 18v Hitachi for under 200. Sweet drill.

I bought a New 18volt Dewalt Kit which included Saws All, Drill, Circular Saw, Flashlight and Charger and 3 Li-Ion batteries all in a carrying case for $249.

Where'd you get that? Their new lithium batteries are like $80 each.
 
It was at lowes. The cheapest I found the 18v Dewalts were about 240-280 for just the drill. I started looking athe Hitachi's and liked the idea of how easy it was to change the brushes. It sure felt solid and had a 10 year warranty. That was the big selling point. Only time will tell.

So were can you get parts !. I need to restore two Makitas that are giving me problems !. I'm just too lazy to search for them !
