Now I’m all caught up.

Here is the rig as of July 28th - the next project is an OEM set of JDM Quad’s and some LED housings via Dapper lightning. Going to be a unique look and might revert back to Holley retrobrite if a little too modern..

Nice attention to detail !

I like the one piece head light look better 🤷‍♂️

This 80 is gorgeous! Well done. The wheels really turned out nice.

Thanks everyone - it’s been a labor of love.

One thing I’m undecided on is about bringing back the US OEM amber side markers and headlight side housings when I do the quad headlights. I’m liking the neutral JDM look but the amber does pop on the two tone. Some inspiration from Blackhillsbuild - Wesley has a killer rig.

Damn what a sweat ass rig. Your attention to detail is amazing. What are your future plans?

Thank you - I have for sure gone overboard on this build.

This is what I currently have planned to finish

Full engine rebuild + Turbo (maybe on turbo)
Quad JDM lights w/ OEM switch for DRL
Roof rack delete + paint touch-up
Custom All season mats (weather tech’s kinda suck)

I’m also basically finished with my wife’s rig (2013 LC200 Amazon Green) and I’m pondering the engine build on the 80 with a local builder that we all know 👍🏻

When you are done that is going to be a sick rig.

Love both rigs...it's great to see that you found a fantastic 80 to start with and take it to the next level. As others have said, attention to detail is amazing and looking forward to seeing more.

Personal opinion, keep the OEM headlights...that's just me, but they go so well with the OEM+ resto theme. That said, your taste is solid, so I'm sure the quads would look great too, just not my first choice.

Are you just going for the look of the JDM headlights or do they provide better lighting?

I agree about keeping it OEM and the solid headlights are the way to go. I have an urge to try something new and I don’t believe my particular combination has been tried before - it will be quad LED chrome projectors with square DRL’s that function as a switchback between amber and white.

We have time to do this in September - very excited. Currently doing an HDJ80 frame off project and using a similar set-up (although black housings).

Got the lights installed - still need to figure out DRL, Switch-backs and some other finishes but I’m pretty happy with the aesthetic.

I also went ahead and replaced the radiator grills and the main grill with new OEM replacements to make the front end 🍒

Last thing will be a spray on the hood, bumper and front bits.

A couple little updates - was able to get my center locker switch installed alongside the PIN7 mod that I’ve wanted to have so I can run around in 4WD low with the center locker off and 4WD high with it on if needed.

I also had bad luck with the Hyde’s leather on my shifter so we re-did it and will swap that over this weekend. I’ll have an extra shifter if anyone is looking for a really clean one minus some leather imperfections

Got the DRL’s wired up to an OEM switch. Very happy with the set-up as I can have all four as low beams and high beams. The DRL halo’s turn Amber when blinking. I’m going to look into some timers to see if I can make them sequential or “ding-dong” from inside to outside. The DRL’s are wicked bright.
