I was talking to him on the phone and it sounded like someone in Ca was going to buy it but was waiting for an inspection. After I found out he was in the LSLC and had a 40 I went a head and did it. Hope yours work out also, with that kind of miles it should last ya 20 years or more!!!

So is it worth $13K which is what we would pay after shipping?

Hopefully the link works. if not here are some pics

Seems like many of the side panels were repaired and the bumpers were repainted.

Even though I asked the inspector to observe the underside for rust, there seem to be no comments regarding the underside or oil leaks etc. I feel the seller's description was extremely misleading, especially when I asled if there was any rust and he said no.

Anyways, suggestions? Comments?

naw man, but if you have some pass the dutchie on the left hand side!

if you're looking at an lx 450, i can tell you if it has factory lockers or not, just ask me dude, i'll take all the guess work out of it for you!

IMHO I would pass on it if ya can. The first pic would be of consern because it looks like the rust is bubling the paint, and the comment about the paint having "fisheye" sounds like its been wrecked and repaired....also seems strange that it only had 1500 miles added in the last year.

Thats what we're leaning towards. It sounds like this thing has been through alot and the PO didn't mention anything. Even assured me there was no rust and just "a few small dings." The report indicates there has been a bunch of previous repairs on the entire passenger's side.

Looks like bondo cracking. Poor repair job. Run away.
Cheers,
Sean

Agreed, with that on the outside, no telling what damge there is where you can't see it!

interesting to see a "pro" report. Seems like he was most worried about the body and paint. Little on the mechanicals. None of the LC-specific checks, of course. Not too impressive. How much does an inspection like that cost?

errr... to restate the obvious, folks, let's not forget here that unless there was misrepresentation by the Seller (which may well have been the case here), a bid is a contract. One can't just walk away even leaving the deposit behind. So let's not be too casual about this sort of thing, eh?

From the auction
Other than a couple of extremly small dings and scratches, this vehicle is in excellent condition.

It sounds like a pretty BIG misrepresentation to me.

I'd say the seller flat-out lied by the looks of things, I would not hesitate to even demand my deposit back, and see where things went. I would want to get Ebay in on it also if it were me. Too bad you can't fly out and check out the next one yourself before the auction closes, and bid from an internet cafe or something...

Thanks all.

Definately misrepresented, but "excellent" condition is subjective right? Well, I think it is abundantly clear that 99% of people wouldn't find this vehicle to be in excellent condition. Long story short, he refunded my deposit, minus his 2% paypal fee, and of course I'm out 2% of the $487 he sent me back. I told him I don't think that was right since the description was inaccurate, but fighting it isn't worth $30. So I'm out about $130 since that inspection was $99. I will certainly only be looking at vehicles I can go see, or one some here is willing to go look at. There are several promising local vehicles.

Thats good advice about alerting ebay myself. He did mention he was going to report me for backing out and I kindly suggested he reconsider given the facts. But I better cover my own a$$.

I guess if it seems to good to be true, 99% of the time it is. So the search continues. Again, thanks for all your help!!!

Keep looking. I found mine on ebay. Found a few that looked great and were written up great, but when it came down to it had issues. Post a thread like you started here. There are a lot of us all over the country happy to loook at and drive another cruiser. In my opinion, you would rather have a cruiser head look at it then an inspection company. Normally, we accept payment in beer at the next time we meet up. But I can't speak for everyone. I stillthink the better deals are on ebay after my search, you just need someone to tell you when a rose is really a weed!

Good luck, let me know if you find another one in Denver!
