Every once a week I took the 80 to the hand car wash, but yesterday (Sat) it happened to be one of the guy couldn't reach the roof top and decided to use the soft brush (the one with the long stick) and accidentally hit, made nice dent on the roof.

Now if you ask me How do you know if the guy really did (dented) your truck? Believe me I know every single thing in my 80-s.As usual, Once I'm home after the car wash I spent 4 or 5 hours to do some detailing and cleaning. And this is what I've found ... pictures below.

I haven't had time to speak to the car wash owner yet. Actually we know each other pretty well because I had few my other car washed and clean by them also.

So my question is, Maybe one of you guys know or recommend it....

1. How to fix the dent without paint the roof?

2. Or Maybe other suggestion for dent removal?

P.S: Please don't forget to post the web link or buy online.

Thank you very much.

Simonez makes a product called "pops a dent".Its one of those seen on tv products.I had a palm sized dent in my rear tail gate.I thought for $19 it was worth a shot.It worked great.Took the dent and several door dings out.Best $19 i ever spent.:D

I've actually used that as well, and it works pretty decent
for round, small dents (like yours) Dent Wizard will
come to your house, and they can handle some larger
dents, but they generally need access from behind the
dent (in your case, I think that means dropping the headliner)

Dry Ice?

Looks a bit bigger than hail damage, but another cheap thing to try is letting it bake in the hot sun, then put some dry ice on it. Even if it doesn't work, you won't have any water to clean up.... :-)

LX, dont know if you fixed it yet but I had a big dent in my former truck and Dent Wizard in Torrance got it out in 40 min.

It was amazing, you cannot tell at all. It fender flare shape, so I thought no way but it was 100% perfect.

Your roof should be a snap.

Dent Wizard or any painless dent removal people.

Call your local dealer and ask your service writer for the number to thier vendor who does dent removal.

thats a $25 dent.

I use my guy almost every day and you will be 100% happy with the results.

Yeah, go with the Dent Wizard guys - that's a piece of cake for them if they can find a way to access it. Be sure you tell him that even though it's up on the roof and out of sight, you want no trace so there's no misunderstanding.

I gotta chime in here, my brother has been doing PDR for YEARS before 'the Wiz' was anywhere near a franchise etc.

No matter WHO you use, make sure they are comfortable with letting you watch them work. These guys made an important point, the PDR guys have to get ACCESS to the backside of the dent. This can often mean MAKING access points and/or dropping sections of headliner in a quick way. Not always the FACTORY way, and not always going UP the factory way.

Not all these guys do it this way, but a lot do. If you're there, you can be sure they're dealing with your old (well, it IS 10 years old by now) and not-so-exotic rig with the respect YOU deserve...

Second that,
PDR is a great way to fix that dent and you should be in th sub $50 range for that, watch them though and make sure that they dont crease the headliner when they drop it.

Since this is a fairly hands on crowd, wouldn't it make more sense to expose the back yourself, and then take it in for the PDR? That way you know everything comes off and goes back on with the appropriate LC specific TLC.

Point being the ar was owner is liable for teh damages, If you have time to deal with it, great. otherwise let someone else do it, just make sure it is done correctly.

You have a few options and it looks like several other members have mentioned some good ideas.

If you can get access to the area without too much trouble you can very carefully tap the dent out from the inside. It's probably best to take a piece of wood or something fairly solid and have someone hold it against the outside of the roof while you tap it out so you don't push it out too far and it matches the rest of the roofline when you're done. Otherwise call up someone like Dent Pro and have them give you and estimate. They shouldn't charge more than $50-$75 to make it perfect and if you have any other small dents they can take care of those at the same time without paint or body fillers.

Good luck and please post pics when you've had it fixed
