Not sure if I will make it this year...

Great advice - I'll be copying some of that for sure...

I can not believe we only have a grand total of " 5 " FLCA members going to the BIGGEST TOYOTA event this side of the Mississippi . What the _______ ? I guess I shouldn't be surprised , I would really like to know what happened to all the members listed on the FLCA web site and the ones I see in the old photos . If anyone knows please help and let's try to get this club back on track , so when we have a weekend trip we have more than 4 trucks show up .

FJ40's

just got my new fj40 delivered this evening.. any fj40 folks in orlando area.?
There are very few in the immediate Orlando area and none of them are on our club forum nor do they wheel. I know of three but they do not seem to be off road enthusiasts or perhaps they are not aware of the possibility of group rides. One of them is aware but not interested.
In a 75 mile radius there are many and a lot of wheelers...in the state there are even more and a lot of wheelers.
What about you? Post up some pictures of your rig.

Ok guys, I'm putting together my checklist for GSMTR. I've got Luis' old camp stove and 6 bottles of fuel for it (and or others).

I'm planning on getting some sliders from Metal Tech delivered up there (thanks to Roger), so I've already got work to do once I get there (any volunteers to help me install them?!?).

What else can I bring to help out here?

1) A really good first aid kit
2) A really good fire extinguisher
3) Recovery gear
4) Several pairs of boots/shoes (to keep dry)
5) Rain gear
6) Plenty of clothes from light to heavy (weather can change over night)
7) Camera
8) Light fishing tackle if interested

You'll have plenty of help for your sliders.

Everything imaginable to get by on is available in Sparta so if you forget something it's no big deal.
Some will shop in Sparta either on the way in or after we set up camp depending on our arrival time. They have great prices on Angus beef up there. In general everything is a bit cheaper...just don't go to Walmart with Luis...you'll be there for 4-5 hours. LOL! We found a cheap good Mexican Restaurant in town that we may revisit on the first night to avoid cooking if we get in later than expected. Ice is available on the property for sale on the honor system.

TLCA Vehicle Inspection Requirements

Vehicles registered for participation in a TLCA, or TLCA sanctioned, event are subject to a 'Vehicle Inspection'. And though TLCA makes no representation as to the impact of such an inspection upon 'safe' participation in an event, failure to pass such an inspection will disqualify the vehicle from participating in the event.

All determinations pertaining to the 'Vehicle Inspection' shall be at the sole judgement of the event committee, and/or its designates, responsible for such inspections. If a vehicle fails to pass an inspection, correction of any deficiencies may be attempted and the vehicle reinspected ... provided such correction and reinspection can be conducted without impact to event schedules.

MINIMUM VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS
The following are minimum vehicle requirements which, if not met, disqualify a vehicle from participating in an event:

Vehicle Registration: Must be current
Liability Insurance Coverage: Must be current, and meet applicable governmental requirements.
Service Brakes: Must be able to stall engine when idling in 2nd gear (1st gear if 3 speed)
Parking Brake: Must be able to stall engine when idling in 3rd gear (2nd gear if 3 speed)
Brake Lights: Must be functioning properly
Tires: All tires, including spare, must have at least 2/32" of tread. Spare tire must be fully inflated. Air down to a maximum of 15 psi prior to safety inspection
Roll Bar: Any open vehicle must have a roll bar firmly attached to the vehicle
Seat Belts: Required for driver and each passenger
Fire Extinguisher: Must show full charge on gauge and/or have seal intact
First Aid Kit: Recommended to be as complete as is reasonably possible
Antenna Length: Not longer than 54", unless both ends are firmly attached to the vehicle

EVALUATED ITEMS
The following are evaluated items which, depending on severity and/or quantity of deficiencies, may disqualify a vehicle from participating in an event:

Headlights
Running Lights
Turn Signals
Windshield: No dangerous cracks
Wipers
Horn
Exhaust System: Must be intact. No open exhaust, excessive noise or excessive smoke
Steering: Check play in wheel, condition of column and mounting hardware, knuckle arms
Hoses & Lines: Water, gas, brake lines (Please do not bring a vehicle with excessive leaks to an event. Such leaks can be damaging to the environment.)
Vehicle Jack: Hi-Lift type recommended
Tow Strap, Tow Rope and/or Chain
Winch

ITEMS TO CONSIDER
The following are recommended items which TLCA encourages you to consider:

CB Radio
Tools
Fan Belt, Radiator Water, Battery Cables
Tire Gauge, Tire Pump, Tire Patch Kit
Rags, Hand Cleaner, Litter Bags
Axe, Shovel
Flashlight, Spare Batteries, Spare Vehicle Key

Calm down Tina there's more going that haven't posted not to mention the north Florida folks and the south Florida folks. There are 12 registered from Florida so far on the GSMTR site which makes us the second largest group. Here's the current ranking:
Alabama: 2
Florida: 12
Georgia: 25
Illinois: 1
Indiana: 1
Kentucky: 6
Maryland: 4
Mississippi: 1
North Carolina: 4
Ohio: 1
South Carolina: 4
Tennessee: 10
Virginia: 4
West Virginia: 1

Mind you this event is on private property where buggy's etc. run. Most of which have no plates, registration etc. Last time the "rules" were pretty common sense. I don't recall going through an official tech inspection.

It is a matter of whether or not Roger decides to comply...he has done it before when GSMTR was at Tellico. If he is using TLCA insurance for the event he will be required to have an inspection (even though he is quite reasonable). Usually a TLCA representative is on property as this is an official TLCA event. I don't think any of us wouldn't be allowed to participate except Luis because he has too much horse s***...I mean power under his hoodie...I mean hood.

Yeah, I don't see myself getting DQ'ed if power were a criteria!

Otherwise this is a good reason for me to do things I already should have done - like carrying a fire extinguisher and first aid kit.

Just don't go all "thug" on everyone and things might be OK... I am all for power under the hood, not so much on the hoodie...

im so doing this next year when i get my rig in order, i just bought it in march , so its sitting in the garage until i can do the tune-up, flush all the fluids, etc

then next year is to get the lift and front/rear bumpers from slee.

You don't really need any of those things to have a good time there. There is stuff from mild to wild. If you have the time and $$$ flush and go.
