Wheel transport from boca raton to gsmtr.

Hello all, just wondering if anyone planning to attend the gsmtr could pick up a set of wheels for me in boca raton and bring them to the event? I'll be glad to pay for the inconvenience. please let me know.

Thanks very much

Help with suspension ...

Hey guys. I was originally going to get sliders shipped up to GSMTR from Metal Tech, but Austin (40TUDE) saw one of my posts and made me a deal I couldn't refuse - his old sliders AND bumper.

Comically, his 80 was "Champagne" as well. So they went from one gold 80 to another - some of you will probably think I stole Austin's truck now :)

Anyway, everything went great and Austin really helped out getting it all installed. Ok, I'll take that back - he didn't help, he did most of the work!

Now my attention is brought to a new problem - my suspension. It was sagging before - old worn out springs, exaggerated when I had my winch built into my bumper. But now, it's really bad. I'm sitting on the bump stops up front!

So a new spring/shock kit is in order before GSMTR. I've worked out most of the details of what I want, but I think I've got a couple of options - one is to have a shipment done up to GSMTR with Metal Tech. The other would be (of course) to have it delivered to me locally.

Either way I'm going to have to get it on. I think I can handle just about everything except the castor bushings - I don't have a press to get the old ones out or the new ones in. So my question to everyone is - should I get the kit delivered to GSMTR, or do whatever I can to get it installed before the trip up there?

Either way, I'd love a little help if it all works out.

I don't remember if there was a press at the shop up there or not. They do have a workshop up there that has most everything to repair stuff, but you might be better served getting it before you go. Once you get there you want to be driving or partying. Going up there to knowingly work on your truck will be a kill joy. There is a difference in breaking something while wheeling the crap out of it and going up there knowing it is broke or needing something done. If you don't have a choice then you have to work with what you got, but if possible do it before you go.

my .02 centavos...

I haven't had to change 80 bushings, but your welcome to come down and I'll help. THe garage is pretty stocked, but no press. Could go to the base and use the hobby shop if need be. Or for $150 buy a Harbror Fright press.

I'm reading about the bushings now - seems like it's no big deal on stock 265's, but guys that have 315's say it gets a little squirrely. I've got 305's, so I think I'm going to want the bushings.

I think I'm going to get a TJM kit, depending on availability...

Where is your garage?

I agree with Bret , do it before GSMTR . Do you live near Luis , he has everything you'll need at his house .

I'm not too far from Apopka. I wouldn't mind going there, but I figured he's full-up schedule wise trying to get himself ready - I think the only time I actually have to do this is the weekend before we leave.

I would love to come out. Anyone have a spare seat open? When are people leaving ? I am not sure if I can take the whole week off from work.

I have a spare seat. Leaving with the herd on Tuesday early AM, coming back Sunday.

You will want the castor correction bushings eventually. I did the OME 2" heavy / heavy lift with mine. I could tell the difference without the bushings on 285/75 tires. I went with the Slee bushing (blue) and cant complain. I cant believe you are on your bump stops. Thats nuts!

I'm going to call my local mechanic on Monday and see if he has a press. He's not much of a suspension guy, but I have a feeling he wouldn't mind doing this quick job. Maybe I can borrow one of his lifts for a few minutes too and get some springs under there. I'll take some pictures for the hell of it.

Hey Cliff, I think this was your rig I saw a while ago....

That should be Cliffs, hard to miss the "boobalicious" tire carrier.

"boobalicious" I think they look like a pair of huge breast . I couldn't drive behind it for long , my mind would start to wonder . :D:D

Hey Archie or Luis see if you can get "caveman" to come . Maybe he'll bring his " Victoria Secert " bow too .

Well I would love to go, but looks like I am going to miss out on another great time. The money is just not there to take off work and not get paid. I have to save all my time off for my honey moon and wedding. Just too much going on at once. I hope you guys have a great time and a safe trip. Thanks CruiserOrlando for offering a ride for me. Next year you should see my rig out there.

You could do the bushings after gsmtr, shocks and springs are super simple, I did 2 80s by myself in under 4 hrs. You just need jackstands and a jack

I think that's what I'm going to do - I just talked to my boss today, and discovered he just bought a press a few weeks ago and is looking for something to use it on :) So I might pull the control arms off and take them over there just to get it all done at the same time.

Honey moon? A jar of good honey is about $3.79 at Publix and the moon is free...just ask Austin...he'll shoot you one!
Wedding? Marry a Land Cruiser...it'll take your money as fast as any gal will.
Too much going on at once...wait til she tells you a little one is on the way...that's when you'll get busy!
Next year? You'll be on some cruise on a beautiful bacteria boat somewhere in the Carribean.
Rig? I think there was a similar post last year. Post pics not promises!
Another one bites the dust...at least we know whose going to be wearing the pants!
LOL! I sure hope you like eating worms cause you sure know how to open up a can of them!
We will miss you Doc Brown! (PS: Don't forget tomorrow night it's your turn to do the laundry)

Speaking of worms, can we pick up bait at GSMTR or do folks use lures?
