I got a year 2000 100 Land Cruiser and I did not check the windshield! Doh! There’s rust where the top meets the roof! I love the thing and want to reinstall it properly. I assume this is what the problem is. Below are some pictures with the rust

However I cannot find (trust me I’ve looked) a definitive list of what is needed for a whole new install. I have rivets, upper and left/side mouldings. But now through more research there’s windshield glass adhesive, there’s 2 stoppers, there’s upper/lower/side windshield dams as well. I believe I’m also supposed to replace the side garnishes that go up into the roof as well? Below are part numbers I could find

75543-60020 side molding (x2)
75531-60030 top molding
75534-60050 garnish
75533-60060 garnish
90269-04053 rivet (x8)

Am I missing anything? I found a place that said they would take off the windshield wire sand it then use Liquid Metal before reinstall. What do you guys think? I want this done right, I can’t find that many people up here in San Jose/norcal that say they know how to do it. These guys said they have extra rivets, rivet gun and have done a few of the same year in the past. What other parts am I missing? Any advice on anything? I appreciate this forum and its vast wealth of knowledge. It doesn’t seem like many car communities even come close.

So I plan on tackling this job myself. I have been piecing together a parts and tool list for a DIY replacement. So many of the LC/LX470 owners on this forum have the exact same problem as you, me included. So lets look at my parts list shall we?

87805 = BASE SUB-ASSY, INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR (87805-60010) QTY needed (1) Inexpensive and is an Achilles heal on many cruisers.
56115C = STOPPER, BACK WINDOW GLASS NO. 1 (56115-33020) QTY needed (2)
56117A = DAM KIT, BACK WINDOW GLASS (64813-52010) QTY needed (2) Just to be on the safe side. Cheap.
53383 = SEAL, HOOD TO COWL TOP (53383-60031) QTY needed (1) Do not order the clips, the seal comes with them.
56111 = GLASS, WINDSHIELD (56111-60272) There is a more expensive version with a bronze coating.
75533 = MOULDING, WINDSHIELD, OUTSIDE RH (75533-60031) QTY needed (1)
75534 = MOULDING, WINDSHIELD, OUTSIDE LH (75534-60021) QTY needed (1)
75543A/C = MOULDING, WINDSHIELD, OUTSIDE NO.2 RH (75543-60020) QTY needed (2) This will handle both sides.
75531 = MOULDING, WINDSHIELD, OUTER UPPER (75531-60030) QTY needed (1)
RIVET = (90269-04053) QTY needed (8) I would buy 10 just incase you booger a couple up. Also be prepared to find screws instead of rivets. If you find screws then the OEM rivets may not work any longer due to the hole being enlarged.

3M Auto Glass Urethane Windshield Adhesive, 08693

3M Single Step Primer, 08682

Good Luck!

Anyone have any additional insights as to the windshield install procedure with respect to the dam and the stoppers? I have studied the parts diagram and the FSM and am still confused.
  1. Do the stoppers (56115 3302) have adhesive tape on them or will I need to glue them to the glass?
  2. Are there a total of (4) dams that get installed on the glass before the glass goes in the frame?
    1. 56117-60040 x2 one L & and one R
    2. 56117-60050 lower
    3. 56117 60040 upper
  3. Do the Dams have adhesive tape on them?
  4. The FSM says one primer for the glass and another for the body. What do people use?
  5. What adhesive do people use for the moldings as described in this step:

Thanks!

  1. Do the stoppers (56115 3302) have adhesive tape on them or will I need to glue them to the glass? No. If you purchase OEM glass they come attached to the glass. If you are not installing OEM glass then don’t purchase them.
  2. Are there a total of (4) dams that get installed on the glass before the glass goes in the frame? Yes Purchase 2 of each. Very inexpensive and you are guaranteed to have enough.

    2. 56117-60050 lower

  3. Do the Dams have adhesive tape on them? Yes.
  4. The FSM says one primer for the glass and another for the body. What do people use? I don’t know exactly. I had safelite install the glass.
  5. What adhesive do people use for the moldings as described in this step: If you have removed the glass and repaired all rust and treated the bare metal properly, this step is not necessary.

I answered some of the questions with my experience.

I removed the moldings and glass a week before safelite showed up so I could repair and remove all rust. They simply installed the glass. They are good at that. I installed the moldings and rivets myself. Good luck!
