Well, ^that^ is a vote for DIY on the rivets and trim. wow

I called my dealer and asked where they have glass done - specifically for the 100 Series. The service guy recommended the place they take any cars that come in and they already knew the deal with all the rivets etc.

On an unrelated note, on my 06, I lifted up the thin rubber strip and found this. What's the easiest way to cut the little tail off the rivet? All the others are fine :hmm:

You may be able to wiggle the tail enough to fatigue it and snap it off.

The other option is to ask them to install the glass then handle all the trim work yourself. As crazy as it sounds, I'd be very tempted to go this route especially if they're installing it at my house. It would take me 3x as long but at least I'd know how it was all put together.
I will need to do that if I ever need to replace a windshield. There is no way a local glass shop will get it right. However, there is a guy in Dallas (6 hour drive) that knows what he is doing.

Did the trim and rivets myself when I had the windshield replaced in August. Not a bad job, I used several small nuts stacked together wrapped in heat shrink as a spacer to keep the rivets flush with the trim as the large head on my rivet gun would not fit in the channel (tip found somewhere on 'mud). And cardboard between the gun and windshield!
