I bought this truck in 2020 sight unseen. It was bone stock with 215,000 miles. Got it for 1500 bucks. Put a tough country lift on it and drove the piss out of it for 2500 miles and blew the engine. I put a jasper rebuilt engine in it and drove that about 20 k and it blew a head gasket . Jasper gladly replace the long block. No questions asked, which was a good thing. I suffer from a little bit of analysis paralysis, so I haven’t really done anything with this truck so far I finally decided to keep it the way it is because it does everything I needed to do. I’ll make it super reliable and tough. I just came up from Baja two weeks ago and put this truck on a lift at my buddies place and pulled the front end apart to put all new components and bushings in the rear new shocks in the back. I’ve never pulled apart a truck like this. I’m a buggy dork from way back, so this was a very big learning experience for me very frustrating, but I figured it out with a little help from some of my friends. Every nut and bolt fought me to the last thread. I went through several cans of PB Blaster.
I’m stoked on this truck even more now. Headed back to Baja to pre run a 9 day trip to Loreto. Here are a ton of photos of my “journey”
Next upgrades will be a rear locker, body bushings, rock sliders, and old school pre runner bumpers with skid plates. I took a ton of photos but I guess I can only add 5
