-The tubing measures a very large 8 inches around...
That would make those 2.5" (65mm) OD tubes.
Couldn't help myself ...![]()
I think the original Ironman bull bars may have been smaller, so that stock photo is old. If you look at the info for the current ones they are 60.3mm (vs 65mm for TJM), so not a big difference in diameter. I can't speak to thickness of the steel bars of either though.Looks like a cheapo market competitor, look how small the bars/metal are. Not necessarily a bad thing every item has its place, not everyone needs all that strength, but in comparison it does look like a cheapo to me.

The one I saw on the 100-series definitely looked as beefy as the ARB on the 200, both in bull bar size as well as the thickness of the steel bumper itself.
Note: I'm not trying to push the Ironman bumper, just providing the facts as best I can for the audience.
I believe the wall thickness of the tube and how it is welded to the bumper matter than the OD.
Agree.
Here is the inside of the TJM, showing how the top bar extends fully through the bumper for additional welds and bracing. So the welds are not relied on for strength, but simply points of attachment. The main bumper frame itself keeps the bar secured against movement upon impact.

Thanks @Markuson. I'd love to see the same shot of ARB, Ironman, and Dobinsons designs, if anyone out there has them
Some more info on Ironman, if I had not already bought my TJM I would have got one and saved $800. Looks like the hoop is just welded to the top plate.
I ended up ordering an ARB deluxe winch bar even though TJM T13 outback winch bar was first on my list. I managed to find a shop wanting to unload a brand new one for $1000. TJM was running double the price with a minimum 45+ day lead time.
I might have gotten impatient as I have seen too many accidents this week including one deer strike.
I would not recommend it. Front sits lower and you'll notice it. I run foam cell pros and the ride with bumper is great.Does anyone use a stock suspension with the ironman bumper? I"m looking to buy one that has everything stock except that they added an ironman bumper and I wanted to see if the difference was noticeable or if I'll need to upgrade the suspension or wear it out prematurely. Thanks!
