De-Chrome around windows

Personally, I prefer all the tinsel removed from around the windows and like the step on the window frame. The bottom stainless can also be removed, at least from the earlier mouldings that are mounted with steel clips. With the moulding removed carefully pry each clip to spread and remove the clips, the stainless will then fall off the rubber. If you are careful the clip can be reused as is but if the clip gets deformed sqeeze it shut and remount on the rubber. The rubber will then mount on the door as original. Attached is a pic of a replacement door I plan on installing hopefully later this year when I repaint my 60.

I have never seen a door with a vent window like that? Which 60 did that come from?

I can't quite tell from the pic... did you fill and sand smooth? or did you weld in new and grind flat?

I filled it in, but with a larger piece to make the window frame look beefier. No real reason other than to see if I could and to make something no one else has.

The door is off an '88 USDM 62. I bought Aussi vents, side windows and regulators, they bolt right in. Just get the right regulator depending on what year you have. My windows must have come off a deluxe since it had the same stainless across the bottom as USDM Cruisers, the rubber was cut off the front to clear the vent. The rubber was junk so I used a US strip and cut the rubber off similar to the Aussi rubber.

Sheila originally had those triangle windows. They suck. You only admire them because they're different. Same with ambi rear doors, which also suck. High top roof, now that's a different story...

I don't know about the vent windows, but I can imagine they are a source for wind noise. Now the ambulance doors are another story, I love mine, wouldn't have it any other way!

I have one and the glass, but remember, you need the main window as well...
The pilar separating the vent window from the main window was badly rusted on one of mine (my diver's side, our passenger's side, Sheila is/was a RHD). The good one is the left hand side (our driver's side). I'll look to see and be sure I have everything needed to do the swap...

I Painted the bottom chrome/stainless around my windows a while back -

yeah.. it's the 2 main roll down windows, 2 vent windows, and 2 metal things between the roll down and vent windows.. does that sounds right?
