Naturally when I need rotors and chose to go with the DBAs as recommended here they are out of stock and DBA is currently upgrading the rotor. out of stock in the US til mid Nov...... what is another option thats not to pricey or should I just go with OEMs?

Where do you buy the ART rotors online in the US?

Hopefully Spresso will chime in because I am seriously thinking of going this way when the time comes. I also think he is about to put his up in classified section since going with the BBK. But I think that will only be the rear ones...????

Spresso is selling his ART rotors at some point in the near future, not sure if they are front or rear though. I'd PM him and see, they are great pieces of hardware.

Just purchased a set of DBA 4789 (rears) when I saw they were reduced on TireRack.

But some have also liked the Power Slots as well.

They're still available. Just depends if you want drilled and slotted, the slotted, or OEM.

I bought the ARTs based solely on spressos review. no online ordering AFAIK, you need to talk with ART, they are made to order. Also, you need some lead time for the same reason, took mine a >month to get here, which was fine for me as i was in no hurry. i also ordered the porterfield pads, and had stainless lines made locally. the truck stops pretty well, no complaints at all. but my truck is not loaded down, it is in fact lighter than stock since i've removed the third row seats. i made the move to HD braking because i am towing a little bit and i wanted the best braking that i could get. when towing, they are still just fine.

when i'm not towing, i figure the OEMs would have been fine too. mine were warped, otherwise i would have waited longer and towed some with the OEMs before deciding to upgrade.

OTOH, if spresso got nearly 100k (?) from his ARTs, i will probably never need to pay attention to my braking system again :)

How much was the rough cost for the rotors and Porterfield pads?... If you dont mind me asking...

ART rotors front and rear, $655 shipped
Porterfield pads all around, $230 shipped
Stainless lines ~$200 (actually got Stoptech lines for the corners and local made lines for the rear frame to axle)

If I were doing it over (and if i had 18" wheels), I would get the big break kit that spresso has reviewed most recently, I think that was for the rear only?..

My quest for good rotors is to try and avoid warped rotors in the future. I live in a town here in NJ that has one main road in (Skyline Drive) and it is roughly a 6-7 mile steep mountain pass into town... because we drive over this hill several time a day all my vehicles develop a pulse and warped rotors. I was told DBA slotted rotors with Hawk ceramic pads should be the fix at a cost I can still afford. I would love to go ART but just can't spend that much right now. I can buy OEM rotors at a good price from my Toy mechanic buddy but just don't want to end up with warped rotors again in 6 months.

I think my problem is the daily trips over the steep hill... Texas if pretty flat.

Not trying to argue, but NJ is pretty flat too. (I grew up in the Philly Area) What people in the valley consider hills are a bump comapred to the hills we have out here in CA. No warped rotors on my 100. My daily drive includes 3500 feet of elevation gain and decent each way. You sure that something else is not causing the warping? Doesn't seem right.

Keep in mind that most 'warping' isn't warping at all but rather uneven deposits of friction material from the pads onto the rotors. Quality pads are as important as good rotors. Cheaper pads can change state and transfer material at lower temps. It's also important to not stand on the brake after a hard stop, let her keep rolling even slightly to keep from cooking the pads onto the rotor in one spot.

I know Spresso was able to find remedy by sanding the rotors with garnet paper (sandpaper without silicone binders) to remove the excess pad material.
