spent some time freeing up the parking brake arms and everything seems to work as it should. Took it for a short spin and there is still a rubbing sound. At least the wheel doesn't get hot and smelly now so that's progress.

Going to finish my coffee then put it up on jackstands again and pull it all apart and try to get it adjusted up correctly.

The weather is warm, the driveway is dry... there are worse ways to spend a Sunday afternoon.

ok, backed the ebrake drums all the way off and no more dragging/heat/odor. A win's a win. :)

I think I've traced my other noise to the exhaust. The pieces that secure the cats are off quite a bit and it allows that bracket to hit the frame. Not sure if that is all of it but it's a start. I stood on the back bumper and bounced as hard as I could and I couldn't reproduce the noise. It only happens on the road, on harsh bumps and when turning hard right.

Megatron MT-34R, 700CCA, 875CA, 75 month warranty. Cost was $100.

seems you have alot of room to spare in there

it's a bit tighter then it looks as the box tapers a bit towards the bottom, but yeah, it's not maxed out.... I'm happy with it though. When I add a winch down the road I'll go with a dual batter setup and put a deep cycle for the winch.

Surprise! My brand new battery is nearly dead. gggrrrrrrrr.. Got it on the charger, pretty much convinced it's the alarm so I guess tomorrow I will be tearing that out. I've got the manual locks (the key in the door) unstuck now so no reason to keep it around anymore (I don't have the fob anyway.)

I also have one of those quick battery disconnects so that's going on as well as added insurance.

So that wire from the alarm branches off into 30 different directions and harnesses behind the kick panel so it looks like that is staying.

Got the quick disconnect onto the battery so that should keep the battery fresh at least.

I really need to pull the ECU codes but its cold and snowing now so I'm going to stay inside where it's warm and spend some time on the rowing machine.

Cold and snowing? Your kidding right? It's a beautiful 50 degrees here.
I don't like that quick dissconect. It's just a band aid. You should really track down why your battery keeps dying.

the snow stoped, thank god, so I hit the pavement, 2.5+ miles and me and the dog are pooped, but I'm going to head back out and play with the truck a bit more.

Chris, I know it's not a permanent solution, but until I round up some qualified electrical help it will save my battery. When I'm running the truck more regularly I will be able to determine if there is an errant and excessive draw or if it's just the alarm, as I suspect. I simply don't have the knowledge to track this down on my own.

Understandable.

alright, reattached the bracket behind the cats so that isn't hitting the frame anymore. Loaded up the family and took a spin and everything is quiet except when I hit a very sharp bump I get a crunching that sounds like the muffler or exhaust hitting something.... night be time to hit up the exhaust shop, there's quite a bit of rattling in there and it's rusted up pretty good. May just bite the bullet and do a new cat-back. Off to the 80-forum to explore my options!

My wife LOVES this truck my the way, first time she's expressed anything better "meh" to any of my past 4x4's. :) Thinks it's comfortable and nice.

Drove in to work today, the disconnect seems to be taking care of the battery for now but I made one stop, didn't disconnect it, came back out and the truck wouldn't start. At first I feared the worst, instead of my presumed trickle draw I have a HUGE one... then I realized the positive battery cable was loose. Wiggled it around, all systems go, start and drive.

Great heat, comfy seats, really just very posh. :) :) Other then that uneventful, need to get it aligned, but it goes, turns and stops as well as I'd expect a big, lifted truck on 35's to do. I can hear the belts of course so as soon as HF sends m damn wrenches I will put the OEM belts on.

Great oil pressure, temp stayed normal and I'm totally paranoid about my HG now so I was somewhat obsessed with that. I need to do the temp sensor mod when I pull the dash out to replace bulbs and such.

The windshield squirters just dribble. Someone in the past put on aftermarket ones so I need to replace them and check all the tubes, no biggie there.

I found some instructions as to how to hook up my meter and test for the draw so I will start chasing the battery drain issue. Going to stop at Autozone on the way home and have them pull the codes (free) so I don't have to mess with the paperclip trick, counting and such. I suspect I'll be buying O2 sensors from CDan soon, but you never know.

YEAH!

Oh man... I wanna be there while the AutoZone guy searches in vain for the OBD2 connector... just to see the look on his face...

AutoZone can't help you. Ya gotta do the paperclip thing on pre-OBD2 vehicles.

Got the belts on! Took forever to run the adjustment bolt in and out but getting the belts on the pulleys was easier then I expected.

Started it up and it's SILENT compared to how it was, night and day. No more wooshing and whistling like a plane taking off.

I'll tackle the AC belt this weekend.
