Are all the switches supposed to be illuminated when the lights are on?

Only my heater controls and antenna switches are backlit, the ECT and rear defrost switches stay dark except the defrost "on" orange light.

Time to buy some bulbs. Yes the defrost is supposed to light, I don't have the ECT but just about everything should be lit.

Oh, and if they are supposed to light up, what bulbs do I need to get?

Thanks,
Dave

You need to buy them from Dan or a Toyota dealer. They are little bulbs. Not sure if you can get them at other parts stores.

on my 97, the Defrost is backlight and so is the Hazard (You didn't mention). The CDL switch is also lit.

I knew I forgot one.

Sorry to hijack, but is the lower part of the air controls (the cold/hot and the flow position) on a 92 suposed to be backlit?

Sounds like I have the same ones mentioned by MoGas out plus some.

BTW, how many bananas is it to get to these?

Once you get the bulbs out you might try taking them down to radio shack...

I blew a funky little fuse in my multi-meter a few days after I got it, R.S. had them, along with drawers full of little electrical thingys. But the dealer might not be much more. Just a thought.

Edit: I just saw the pic First Toy posted. My Runner has similar bulbs in the switches, and the grey "base" isn't really part of the bulb. There's 2 lead wires that come off the bulb and get wrapped around the base to make contact in the right spots. You need to unbend these to separate them. Just so people dont go looking for bulbs with the bases on them...

I'm pretty sure when you buy the bulbs from Toyota they come w/ the plastic bases attached...

They do, and the bulbs vary some between the different switches, i.e. they're not all the same.

This is a no-brainer. Call c-dan, he knows what you will need. The bulbs are cheap, no need to go hunting around wasting your lunch hour.

Little over $5 IIRC from Dan, local stealer wanted to charge me $12 a piece!
Called Dan and got the real price :bounce: , and yes they come with the plastic back already attached.
