Good deal, is your prototyping machine able to take .stl files from say, solidworks?

Where the hell have you been all our damn lives?!
Tofu needed your entrepreneurship badly:

And now I have the purdiest panel I ever did see in my new clean, bone stock (except for a sunroof) 62, so you're no help...

You sir, can make some serious beer money, if you play your cards right. I'd talk to Kevin @ Wagon Gear... or amaurer, or this guy: https://forum.ih8mud.com/60-series-...nstrument-panel-those-aftermarket-gauges.html.

Also, check this one-off unit (see post #3): BUT BEFORE YOU CLICK...be forewarned, cruiser porn ahead...SFW. https://forum.ih8mud.com/60-series-wagons/180085-new-aluminum-dash.html

Too bad the college won't let me use their machines or we could make you some sick stuff locally tofu...
When we tearing into the new truck?

Edit: Nice job, that's a sweet way to customize your interior without filling OEM plastic full of holes. I'd like to see the end result.

S&S; What radius rounds are you using for the outer edges?

I'm guessing you're taking about the rapid prototype model...I solid works loaded on my other cpu, and believe or not I'm not the CAD guy so alot of that stuff is foreign, i have go to person for that hahah. I'll see if can find out.

As for an update, I have a few quotes out for bid, just about looking at all kinds of materials, laser cut steel or aluminum, water jetting ABS, or even milled ABS block. The rapid prototype stuff is nice but they wanted close to $400 a piece!

I'm working on this stuff between my day job and my family, so I apologize if it's been a slow process.

$400 a piece?! Something is way off there...My college has a fused deposition machine, seems ideal for this task. It gets fed thermoplastic filament off a spool and it does the rest. Plastic can't be that expensive, I think a solid 2" x 2" cube costs like $1.25

S&S1stCruzer, how would use a laser or waterjet cut to produce this panel? I thought that those types of manufacturing processes could only produce 2 dimensional pieces.

S&S, love seeing new things.

If you start actively selling these in this thread it will get moved to the for sale section (basicaly no prices). Best bet is to put a link in this thread to the "for sale" thread in the for sale section.

Thanks Mace for the heads up. We're still working on the Tech part, but I understand. Hopefully we get this into the For Sale section sooner than later.:wrench:

These look great any updates

Ordered some more material to make a model, it's still in the works. It's been hard to actually find a fab shop that would take the business? But I working with my buddy again to get a working model that can be used make the rest. This one is going to made out of aluminum plate and we're going to knock out the stock OEM version first. I'm crossing my fingers to have something by xmas to show!

If these go into production, I'd love to see one that is just blank other than the cutout for the HVAC controls! See terrible photochop below...

That shouldn't be a problem.
I combined projects with same Fab shop as my seat brackets and things are moving alot faster.

Couple of questions:
Would you guys prefer,:
Factory color matched or just black powder coat finish or have the option to decided on purchase?
