Over the years I have had less and less dash panel screws holding the truck together. I'm talking about those really coarse almost wood screw ones. There seems to be three different sizes ( small and large Phillips head and the 10mm hex heads). Has anyone found any suitable replacements? I feel a bit silly going through exploded diagrams and ordering just a few screws from Toyota.
Not sure about replacements, but there is nothing wrong with ordering a few screws from Toyota. You could also just go to a pick and pull and probably find the same screws on any 1990's toyota.
These are common interior fasteners on every Toyota I've seen from the period. I take a bag with me to the salvage yard when I go and stock up. They're always lying in heaps on the floorboards, from previous destructions.
I do buy what I cannot find from Toyota. There really aren't any better fasteners to use. You either get ones that are too small and you have squeaks, or you use ones that are too large and they have their own problems.
The encircled letters mark the locations and types of each fastener:
