What's the trick to getting the passengers side to release?

I haven't removed mine yet so not sure. Go to Toyodiy.com. That's a really good resource. You should sign up and pull up the 77 parts diagrams. I tried to cut and past the diagram but it's not coming up very clear. Here's the link to the dash on a '77: ToyoDIY.com

It looks like there might be some bolts that go up through the top front of the glove box; you might take a look there.

Friendly suggestion also; just keep everything in one thread; especially when the subjects are so close.

Passenger side dash pad? I’m visualizing the dash pad that runs all the way across on top. There’s also the small center pad down lower.
The upper one has 10 mm nuts all the way across on the inside behind the gauge cluster, switch plate and glove box.
