Revival: any suggestions on sourcing these.

That looks like the late model defrost vents that have been trimmed. You could get a set from classifieds and not have to trim them that much to use with the vent windows.
I found black plastic plugs from Ace Hardware that were real close. A little black silicone has held them fine for 7 years or so.

Looks like a pretty easy 3d print...

You think po did this on purpose?

Yep. The stock un-trimmed side window defroster will hit the wing window if not trimmed.
I have done a couple.
This is on a fiberglass body but mounted where the stock location would be. I cut off an inch or so. Wing window just clears the vent when the doors are on.

It's quite easy to source them in the Old Continent, as in many European countries the 40-Series were equipped with.
I do have those defrost vents/ducts in both my BJs:
1984 BJ42-German market and 1983 BJ45-Danish market.
No vent windows though: this specific feature is most common in 40-Series imported in France (not sure about Belgium or Holland).

Sounds like a new re-design in 3D with a finished edge that works with wing windows is in order... :)

Once I get a new heater (Vintage, etc) in my 1972, I want to figure out a tube or something that mounts over the factory defrost on top of the dash and runs the length of the windshield, blowing air to the doors and the windshield. Because the door windows get FOGGY! LOL
