I know the brake light on the dash will come on when the e-brake is on, but does it also come on as a warning that pads are getting low?

Maybe it's my sensor, but when I push all the way down on the brake pedal my dash brake light comes on.

Any idea's?

Thanks

Checked fluids and it's topped off.

wires

try pulling the wires off on the bottom of the mc one at a time and see if it makes a diff

These are the wires that bsmith123 is talking about.

Replace them both if they are leaking...

Brake Loss of pressure switch:
The two pressure switches are wired in parallel with each other and in series with a normally open contact in the brake switch, the brake warning light and on to Fuse A which is hot all the time. The other side of the pressure switches are wired to GROUND.

The pressure switch's are normally CLOSED switches. When you step on the brake you make the contact in the brake switch which completes the path and the warning light turns on for a brief period until enough pressure builds up in the master cylinder front and rear circuits to cause the switches to OPEN thereby turning off the warning light. Any loss of pressure in the brake system will allow the pressure switch to close again lighting the light. Took me forever to get mine to work properly!

Hope that clears up the mystery!

Edit: #40 = E-brake switch, #41 = Brake Warning Light, #42 = brake switch, #44 = pressure switches, #43 = to brake lights

Thanks Guys! So do you think it's a wiring issure more than my brakes going out?

Thanks again for taking the time to post up the pics and info.

Adjust your rear brakes.

No, really, adjust your rear brakes and the light will stop turning on when you hit the brake pedal.

fjatheart, my apologies for my seemingly, unrelated to your problem, responses... and no I'm not drinking... ;)

I was replying to the wrong thread! I was reading some threads in the search, read one about leaking brake switches causing the light to come on, then posted an answer to that thread, into your thread.

No worries, I still learned something, so it wasn't a waste of time for me.

So did you get your rear brakes adjusted?

man this thing sh**in me ,i have got a new sensor and push hard on pedel light goes out ,return pedel light comes on front only and been bleeding it all F**ken day 1.5 liters plus.Holy hell my arms hurt.

Hey at least it's warm in your neck of the world! ;)

What do you mean the light comes on, on the front only? I often wondered why Toyota did not use two warning lights. With two lights, one would know which circuit had low pressure.

So... here is a schematic I drew up that would allow for two warning lights. :) Please don't be jealous of my drawing skills... :flipoff2:

If everything is good, both lights would always be off, (unless the e-brake was on). If there is a problem, which ever light is on indicates the circuit that has the leak, blown cylinder or what ever.

today a tryed to fix that annoying red light by replaceing the front sensor of my duel master.I let the fluid out completly and cleand the reservior installed new switch with thread seal and bleed the system. All was good for 30min when i jump in the truck again guess what the LIGHT was on so i understand it is pressure lose somewere but were?

You don't need two brake lights for the two circuits. If you pull the wires off the sensors one at a time and ground the wire, that will tell you which circuit is faulty (the one that lights the light when it's still connected).

An internal leak in the master cylinder will also cause a pressure 'loss' in one circuit or the other with no visible signs of fluid loss so keep that in mind.

yes this it true coolman, but master is only about 2 year old not toyota about how long the the light been on.I was thinking of tighting up the wheel cylinders to the max, hold the peddel in tight and crack the nut on the line at the master to see if there is any air up there. this only happens on the front system only:bang:
