Everyone at his house is OK. They were in the basement and it was not a direct hit. Apparently the tornado hopped over his house, picked up a bunch of trees, and inserted them into his house. Everythin in the master bedroom is toast, the roof is squished, and there is water damage from the rain.

To add insult to injury, the Avocado is smooshed. Took a tree to the right rear cargo area and the roof is touching the tailgate.

Looks like Dan has a new project cruiser.

Aww man

Glad everyone is okay.

Sorry to hear that. Most important thing is that everyone is OK. Is there anything we can do to help?

Ouch! glad dan and the boys are ok!

Glad Dan and the boys are OK. Let us know if we can help out in any way. God was truly looking over him!

I just talked to Dan. Both he and the boys are OK. House and the Cado have damage. Dan is just waiting around for the insurance adjuster to come. He is doing well. Crazy stuff... I got a little hail and wind from the same storm line but nothing like what Dan saw.

I will caption the pics Dan posts with "That will buff right out!"

We owe Dan a happy hour very soon. We could also bend up a cage for the Cado as long as we have the expertise to design, fabricate and install a strong cage. That could be a nice treat.

News was saying some area's were getting 2.5" hail

News was saying some area's were getting 2.5" hail

Dan said before the storm really hit he had hail coming at his house sideways...never a good sign. Man, 2.5" hail can do a ton of damage just by itself.

Apparently many neighborhoods around Dan are hit pretty hard w/ many trees down. We must give the Cado credit. Dan cut the tree off of the Cado then drove it around the neighborhood (hopping trees in the road) to check on his neighbors. Oh, and the dog came home too.

See Dan, and you thought you were just having fun wheeling. Didn't know you were just keeping in practice for this...

And when there is some violent weather attack where lesser vehicles can't go through guess who will make it through, you will. I think the ability to traverse difficult terrain and the skills you are polishing by going wheeling far outweights building some something just for speed. The practice of overcoming obstacles on the trail could turn into knowing how to navigate through a natural disaster where you've got to climb over cars and wheel over sofas.

Show us the pics of the 'Cado wheeling over the sofas!

Glad to hear no one got hurt, we had a few touch down in Southwest Charlotte area last night as well.

That is horrible news- Glad everyone is ok. if there is anything we can do just say the word.

Man so sorry to hear. Thank god everyone is ok. Best of luck Dan.

Glad to hear that everyone is OK! Sounds like Dan will have a new cruiser project.

glad they are okay and sorry about home and cruiser....we just got marble sized hail at my house and gusts of 40-50mph...had an inch of hail covering my entire yard after 10 minutes of it. Luckily I could find no hail damage on house but thought it was going to bust my storm door or other windows.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm really glad to hear that Dan and the boys are ok! That's incredible. It's great he can be a good sport and still put the Cruiser to good use by checking on the neighbors. Please let us know if you and the boys need anything Dan. Clothes, food, beer, good times, whatever. Hope all works out well for you. Things truly do and DON'T happen for a reason.

Talked to Dan earlier and he said surrounding neighborhoods took a far worse beating than his house/neighborhood. He thinks he just got the tail end of the twister as it touched down in some places that left almost nothing standing.

He could use some help with the clean up of his yard, so anyone available please give him a call. He's starting to chainsaw his fallen trees and patch up his chainlink fence for his dogs immediately. If you have a chainsaw even better, but he needs just a lot of manual cleanup right now to clear the driveway, street, yard, etc...The major help can be in picking up his cuttings and putting on the curb or wherever trimmings can go. I'm guessing he'll save whatever can be used for firewood.

His bedroom took the most damage and the hallway leading from it. There's a big hole and tree in the bedroom roof. He got a tarp up there late last night. The insurance agent and gen contractor are sussing up the damage today. Not sure what insurance will do with the cruiser, but I'd guess homeowners insurance would cover damage to vehicles parked in the driveway. I think the Avocado will become a ragtop after all is said and done.
