So I need some opinions on what to do. Bumper came ups today. I am at work so my wife was there to watch the delivery guy coming. Bumper was dragged on the ground outside in my driveway and one of the corners is messed up. I am not home but here is the pic she sent me.

Looks like one of the top rear corners where the bumper would meet the fender.

Got this bumper new on eBay for 768. No tax, no shipping. Ups says they will send it back to the vendor, reimburse him so he can reimburse me. That is all they will do which leaves me with a problem.

Vendor only had 4 bumpers which are now all gone. Reimbursement would leave me without the deal I got and leave me several hundred short of another bumper.

Do I just suck it up, spray paint over it and call it a day or do I send the bumper back and hope to find another deal.

Your opinion greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'd get a powder coat estimate and see if UPS would settle over an agreed amount to cover the PC...

I'd then take the $$$ and Rustoleum / POR15 (depending on where you live) the heck out of the whole bumper myself...

It's bound to get scratched up anyways...

That's a good idea. What bothers me is the spot. That's not a spot that's gonna see much action but the bumper overall is gonna see a lot of use. I'll see what a pc estimate is.

Its never going to line up. Or look right. Plus it will be that one piece that is always burning in the back of your mind. It will never leave your head about UPS's care.

So I'll save you a ton of headaches. Sell it to me for $550
And here I thought I was the one getting the good deal!

Get home, look it over, and do what your gut tells you. I kept mine. Rust oleum professional gloss black after some good primer. Five feet away, can't tell it was ever gouged down to bare metal.

Its odd that the ARB didn't come in a big box. They are always very good at how they ship stuff.

I would sand that portion, por15 it then slap it on a start wheelin. Look on the bright side...the first scratch of many was a free gift. My bumper got scratched and dented on its first trip and looks better that way anyway in my opinion. I understand that it sucks to get a beat up bumper at the negligence of ups though. You just need to ask yourself if you're ok to let it go or go through the inconvenience of sending it back in hopes of getting another one free of damage. Best of luck

Damage? It's a good thing that you are probably oblivious to the types of damages incurred to brand new cars on massive ships that transport a 1000 cars across the ocean and sold as new.

Mine came in a HUGE box, wrapped all to high heaven. Box was about 3'x3'x5'. No way it could've got damaged. Shipped thru a shipping company in an 18 wheeler trailer. Wonder why yours wasn't.

Who knows..... I don't think I'm gonna go through the trouble of following through on the claim. Just been looking over the million ways ups can tell you it's your fault they damaged your package and do nothing to make it right. Don't feel like having a stroke over this. Gonna paint the corner, throw it on and go scratch it up some more.

If it's a great deal to start with, suck it up and use a bit of paint. Keep in mind that if you send it back you still need to get your money back and that may or may not be so easy. The vendor could give you a hard time and could conceivably be inclined to keeping the UPS money, yours and the bumper too...

If UPS can damage the bumper that easily, is this really what you want to protect against rock strikes on the trail, or vehicular confrontations in the parking lot or the next red light?

It's just paint. It's not like it's caved in.

I clicked the link expecting something mangled and looking like it got run over by the UPS truck.

That's it? Come on... put your big boy pants on, grind it smooth, paint it, and move on with your life.

@FromTjtoLC
at least UPS is consistent. They delivered mine today too. (The one that cost me $100 more than yours ;)). Anyway mine received the SAME TREATMENT!!! Driver dragged it out of the truck and left in on the drive...

Sure enough, scratched through the PC to bare metal in three places:

Above pic is where the fairlead attaches. I'm probably going to cut that off anyway once I upgrade to synthetic line and a Hawse fairlead. The other damage is to front PS corner. Like they said above, it's going to get scratched up anyway...But even so, that royally chaps my butt! Aaaargh!:bang:
