I bought my 2002 at the end of january 2013 with 105k on it. At the time I was living in Frederick Md and working close to DC so I was doing 100 or so miles a day. It was a lot more comfortable to commute in than a honda accord. WE moved closer in so instead of doing 2.5 tanks of gas a week I can pretty much commute on one tank a week. Which is a lot more comfortable. I know have 160k. My wife's job and a organization she is apart of requires a lot of weekend trips. SO this summer we are doing 2 trips to NY state , 2 to south western virginia, round trip to new orleans and round trip to OshKosh Wisconsin. Those are the ones I know about right now

I bought my 2003 in 7/2006 with 30k miles on it. Just turned 160k and other than minor rust I have had absolutely no issues. I use it as my daily driver probably between 15 and 50 miles per day. My skill set is working on people, not vehicles, so I rely on a local oil change service for routine stuff and the dealer for 30k intervals.

At present, my 100 is pure stock, but I'm considering some mods while still keeping it a DD. Any thoughts from the experts here on minor mods that extend longevity and keep it useful as a DD and occasional light trails, please let me know.

I use mine on camping trips. Quite a shock paying for diesel in a 40+ mpg vw TDI to premium in a gashog...

I believe most of us are burning 87...
The engine and ignition are designed and tuned for premium. I think the additonal mpg from proper timing advance offsets the less than 5% higher pump price (at least in LA).

I've always used premium in all my LX's for the same reason. Switched to regular in February when I moved to Texas, because the price difference here between regular and premium is 10 - 12%. Much to my surprise I am getting the same mpg with regular and no noticed difference in performance and no pinging. If I lived in the mountains I would have continued using premium. Also I drive like an old man so that could speak to no noticeable difference in performance. On the LX470, premium is recommended not required, there is a difference.

I DDed the 100 last week. It's the first time in a couple of years that it's been my only car.

It was nice, but didn't last long. I just bought a 2000 elocked limited 4runner a couple of days ago because it was such a good deal.

I was looking for something more fuel efficient as my DD. I looked at a new diesel sportwagen. Didn't want to dip into our savings that much or finance. This is my second 3rd gen 4runner. My wife thinks I'm crazy for having 2 Toyota SUVs at the same time.

The 4runner should perfect for carrying my mtn bike to the office for after work rides. I also go to Harkers Island many weekends to go offshore fishing with several buddies and don't want to put the miles on the 100.

Really missed having a rear window that rolls down

Another DD here. 2000 LC with 125k, bought in April of this year. First cruiser, and love it. Commute is roughly 15 highway miles each way, and much nice than shifting gears in the Tacoma I had before.

I rotate between two cars for DD duties depending on what I need that day - viagra or valium. The Hundy is my valium for those days I need to unwind. P-car for when i want some excitement.

Then there's the wife's vanilla which is also my personal carbon offset, Rav4 EV.

Wow as if you were talking about me.
I am lucky enough to have long drive to and from work everyday (100 mile each way!!).
On slow days, TLC 200 -Diesel 4.8- and on a "viagra day -as you put it" is my P-car (C2 '99).
Only thing is, my wife does not drive and we have a Corolla for town trips (2014, 2.0 l manual).

Love my work, just for the commute on the highway!

It's a lot cheaper to use an LC as a daily driver than own a second car, no matter how fuel efficient. That idea has crossed my mind many times but every time I run the numbers, all in, it just doesn't add up. Gas would need to be US$10/gallon for it to work for me.
