Anyone running the D rated version of this tire? I was about set to pull the trigger on some KO2s, but know this is a well reviewed alternative that can be had in a non-E rated version. It's really not that much lighter, but maybe a smoother ride on pavement?

I had the E rated Duratracs, and they wore unevenly and got pretty loud. Definitely worse than the K02s I have had on other trucks, and they weren't really better than the K02s off-road. I know a lot of people like them, but my experience wasn't that good. I don't think they would be significantly different in D rated. I'm currently running a set of Ridge Grapplers that are down to their last 30% tread, and I'm debating between another set of these, KO2s, or the Toyo AT3, but not another set of Duratracs. Of the tires I've run, the Ridge Grapplers wear the most evenly, and aren't as loud as a worn set of K02s, but not as quiet as a new set of Ko2s. YMMV

You can always get BFG KO2 in STOCK size in Load Range D…but that means that you don’t have any extra clearance.

There's a reason why those tires are well known by their nickname "Duracraps" lol. I had them come stock on my Power Wagon and we had a set on a Jeep a while back, they suck.

I have had the Duratracs in D and E. my new ones are E rated bc my truck is heavy. Honestly, I don't think I noticed a difference.

I have also had the BFG KO2. For me, I prefer the Duratracs. They are FAR better in snow. Here in Colorado they are very popular in the mountains bc of their snow abilities. They also look better...

That being said, my last pair did have some uneven wear but I was never good about rotating them either. I am completely sold on the Goodyears

My experience with duratracs was fine. Solid on land and absolutely great on snow.
had 275/65r18 e lt 125 load.
They were used to me, I took another 4/32nd off and then retired them for 35s.
The 2 ply sidewalls bothers me but I didn’t have any flats or failures.

For me, the ONLY Goodyear truck AT tire that i would get is the Wrangler AT Adventure with Kevlar. The sidewall is 2-ply but the DuraWall compound is pretty tough and plenty good for moderate off-roading. The tread Kevlar is good too. And it is far more docile on the highway than the Duratrac…and more robust off-road. But it does cost more $$.

But in the size requested above, it is Load range E.

NOTE that the DuraTrac Load range D or E have pretty much the SAME weight!! So, i am not sure how much better D is over E in terms of ride comfort.

I agree and had the same experience as this. I will never waste my money on Duratracs again

Hmmm tires get tribal it seems. While I would probably fair OK with Duratracs, I have had KO2s before and they’ve been good performers. Rather than tempt fate and dancing with a different partner I’ll go w/ E rated KO2s. Thanks to those that weighed in.

I’ve had good luck with duratracs as far as longevity. Got 80k out of one set. E rated. Never noticed any uneven wear. Yes a tad loud but not driving a ton. Good winter performance. Tried the KO2’s but didn’t get tread life I was looking for. On second set of duratracs now

I had a set on my 80 series. I was very pleased. Quite, good wear, and excellent in snow

Duratracks beat K02's on snow period and are much more pleasant (softer) to run on the road.

I've never had any issues when I ran them on my 100 Series and they were perfectly fine on 100's in the Hills in Silverton and surrounding areas years ago and the trail leaders at the time had the same opinion.

DT users are often brutal with that tire without deflating to reasonable air pressure and cutting the sidewall on sharp rocks - but that can happen with any tire and in my case I completed all of the trails we wanted to go on last year at LCDC VI without any issues.

Very good alternative to the KO2 (I have the KO2 on my Tundra), also they don't sling rocks as much as the KO2.

As with every tire I think the geographic location (weather and seasons) and a particular use / terrain will suit one tire over another.

The real answer here is, if snow traction is important to you, get the Duratracs. If you don’t care about the snow, then it really doesn’t matter bc both are good tires.

Also, how has no one else brought up the fact that the Duratracs look way better? I mean, they look like a MT, act like a AT in summer and like a full snow tire in winter. Sold

Looks are very subjective because I think the DC's look cheap and their bulging seams on the sidewalls only magnifies that. They are better in snow and ice but that's it IMHO. I believe most like DC's because they are cheaper because in my experience the KO2 is a better tire, YMMV.
