My gear selection indicator light is flickering when in drive D but not in other positions 1 2 N or R. I can make it stop somewhat by lightly touching the shifter but 2 seconds later and it’s flickering again. Is there some sort of sensor or switch under the shifter that needs to be adjusted/replaced?

Search - your bulb may be just about ready to join the D heaven where most of our D bulbs are resting - burned out.

Thanks. I don't reckon that's an easy bulb to access????

LOL! No it isn't but there's info somewhere with instructions on how to access it if you really have to have big D staring at you. Personally, I've been doing fine for years w/o it.

mine was out

then, I thwaked the gauge area in front of it....

it's worked ever since....little dimmer than the rest, but working....

thwack...not tap tap tap....one solid thwack...just hard enuf to jar things but not so hard you crack the clear shield....

thwack ;)

kinda like a tweak to someones ears.....middle finger works the best, but it may be sore afterwards....

WOW! You're special....not only do you have a"D" light but it blinks! That should add quite a bit to resale value! :princess: ;)

thwack it :) as per woody

Couldn't find "thwack" in Webster's. :D Nope, don't need it or the aggravation of changing it if it's not easy to access. Hopefully the "thwack" will either kill it for good or bring it back to life. The flickering catches my eye all the time thinking it's one of the idiot lights coming on.

Woody is correct the 'THWACK' method is the accepted fix...

My first THWACK fixed my D-light for over 3 years. The second THWACK fixed it for another 1 year. It's now THWACKED out.

Mine has finally THWACKED out as well. Don't really miss it.

I don't think it's the cost of the bulbs that prevents them from being replaced. ;)

We have a winner! :bounce:

Mine went out last month. No amount of Thwacking has brought it back.

It's really not that bad to access. RT's got a good write-up on the instrument cluster removal in his temp gauge mod. thread.

Yea, right. I'll jump right on this and get it fixed before Moab. Gotta have Pristine working 100% before CM06.

I do, that's like $100 in bulbs. (at least that's what I think LX_TREME posted for the cost)
