D for drive light flickering

I spent $20 and about an hour changing all the bulbs on Monday. The thwack is the primative fix, yet it worked for a little while. Change them, it is not that hard.

I'm 2 thwack cycles in and she's lit. The fist cycle was successful for ~18 monthes. My method of thwacking is on top of dash in the gauge area as opposed to on the face of the gauge area.

Results:

I tried the 'twack' method (on the face of the gauge cluster, back-hand style with index knuckle, aiming for the D) and it didn't work. Still fickering. I may not be doing it as firmly as required. To me, it's a new vehicle so abusing it in any way seems counter intuitive...and the steering wheel prvents a good wind-up.

I'll try twacking the top of the dash if using more force on the face doesn't work. I can generate alot more PSI that way. Just don't want to hurt my pretty :princess:. :D

Top of the dash with the heel of your hand; open palm. Use increasing force until desired results are achieved or maximum force reaches your pain threshold. Don't worry about breaking the dash; it's a Rand Kahcuzah.

There's your problem right there --- you did a "twack" --- gotta do a "thwack"

if I'm not mistaken, any and all affore mentioned thwaking is for non funtioning bulbs, yours still works! I think the element inside the bulb has to have become completly seperated first.
